@ MSH:

This is probably right up your alley.

I wish more raw (audio-like) data like this was uploaded as well, but so far my attempts to dig it up have proven futile. Silly scientists hoarding their datas.

Eh, not really. Way too much going on there, and I generally find planet sounds creepy. They're truly horrific most of the time.

The "sounds of planets" stuff is mostly this kind of "audio" data only cleaned up with filters/other effects so that there's less going on. But yes, they all do carry the same inherent factor of creep-generating frequencies. The music of space does not follow our rules, nor does it cater to the frequencies that we can hear most of the time. But when I'm listening to probe data in real time, and I close my eyes, I know JUST ENOUGH about how the instruments work to be able to picture what's going at that particular place and time in the depths of space, and read a bit of the plasma currents.

And it's just.

Beautiful.

And terrifyingly remote and isolated, and putting into context the massiveness of the universe.

And I wish they'd send a better PWS instrument out there already and let me listen to it, dammit!

No, not static. There are these little skipping sounds you can hear on vinyl records and old tape recorders. They happen periodically, presumably because of errors in the medium. And I really like listening to them because I'm a very strange individual.

this?
The noise at the beginning is the needle drop, but the rest tends to be referred to as vinyl crackle/pop in my experience. Software like Ableton Live and similar can produce it and it's used to make the music sound older. You can get pluggins that reproduce most audio glitches.

[≈ box office sales of The Lion King, 1994], too high. Never before has a serious, AAA movie made me burst into uncontrollable laughter in the middle of an action scene. It felt bizarrely amateur considering the budget.

...can you explain? I don't remember the movie quite well, or what a C-130 is.

As I said, either you get it or you don't.
... actually, having read the article, the tingling sensation described has been pretty trivial to actively induce, in my experience. One of the possible physical reactions to meditation. Can get that stuff to go off with a few deliberate breaths and some attention, these days. Would make it distinct from the involuntary brain orgasm "meridian" response, but yeah.

Definitely get the autonomous reaction from certain sorts of music, though (This 'un can hit it pretty easily, ferex), if I'm in the right sort of mood. S'just... pretty easy to latch on to, magnify, and flat induce. Latter took a few years to get down, heh.
