Clothes are. They're both an utility and fashion item, and for me the first is more important than the second.

* LordSlowpoke recalls a -30 degree winter a few years back when multilayered coats and a blanket on top were the only way to get anywhere

Robes are sort of nice though. Easy as hell to make in whatever variation you want, and you barely ever to need to wear anything else if you took a weather-appropriate one.

Kilts are one of the most practical articles of clothing, I find. I am not referring to the formal ones worn for weddings and the like (the fake ones), I am referring to the ones that were like huge blankets that you'd wrap around yourself. They could be worn as a kilt around your legs during the summer, but they were also large enough to form ponchos/shawls with hoods if you folded them correctly. You can also hide many weapons of various sizes in them.

Muh, jeans are fine, I guess. I like pants that don't fit so tightly around my legs, tough. Altough I generally don't have much choice, since I'm tall and skinny so a lot of clothes just don't fit. (I have quite a lot of clothes of Carhart for this reason.)

Up until now I've been using Photoshop CS3 for all my digital artings, it was fine. So I decide to try out CS6 since I've heard it's mostly the same, more memory efficent and has some neat new features (like freehand canvas rotation).

And for some reason the little fucker doesn't recognize my tablet as a pressure sensitive one, CS3 works fine still while this one treats it like a fancy mouse.

Edit:

So apparently some people think it's about the drivers. So I update them to 5.2 and when I plug the tablet in and check it out in the device manager it says the drivers are 5.1, the old version. So yeah, I think I'll just ragequit on this shit for now, fancy canvas rotation isn't worth all this trouble.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the tablet drivers? That's a semi-common issue with new versions of photoshop.

Did that, several times, but every time I plug in the tablet Windows goes ahead and installs the version it thinks is correct and the ones I have installed are completely ignored :I

So, this afternoon I booted up Planetside 2 again because I hadn't in a while.
I remembered why.
It's not just unfun. It is frustrating. Almost every time I died it felt cheap and undeserved, and any kill (or more likely assist), of which there were hardly any, felt like I was lucky rather than like I'd done anything. The colossal lag didn't help either. My framerate hardly went above 20, and often wasn't even in the double digits; and that's in an almost-empty area. When in a large battle or moving to a new area the framerate dropped to 0.2 fps or so. Fucking awful.

Then there's the weapon unlock system; it would take almost a week of playing for hours a day to get even the cheapest guns. I cannot think of a single other MMO that has such a fuckpendously high ratio between time and reward. Especially considering that you need to spend certs on specialised weapons and utility items to be at all useful beyond being an ammo-sink for the enemy.

And then when you're done eating a quarter of a clip full of bullets or so, you have to spend 10 minutes trudging back over to the front line to diligently get shot again. Poor game all around fuck this.

Dude, join an outfit. The entire game is based around the concept of teamwork. So yeah, if you run into 50 or so organized guys using voice comms, you and the greenies (all the other guys not in cohesive units) are going to get wrecked.

If you aren't supporting and being supported by your team, you are sure to fail. It's simply how any game works where you have dozens, if not hundreds of people fighting. Oh, and 100 certs (unlocks for the cheapest guns) can be made in no more than a couple of hours without premium. Yes, the shit that's 1000 certs is expensive and annoying to get.

That said, the weapons you start out with are still functional. Since I play mostly Heavy Assault, I can tell you the following: The Orion LMG, while being a noob gun, is incredibly effective in close quarters, allows 75% movement speed while aiming down sights (25% more than most other weapons), and feels more like a carbine than a machine gun.

The T9 CARV, the TR's standard LMG is generally good all-round and also has quite a high rate of fire, though seems to be rather inaccurate on full-auto as evidenced by myself often caught out in the open while a hail of red tracers fly by, hitting absolutely nothing.

The NC's Gauss SAW is arguably the best long-range machine gun in the game due to its high damage.

They are all perfectly functional and usable weapons, but like all weapons in PS2 require time to get used to their strengths, weaknesses, and quirks. Each of the many options available to each class is designed for specific types of combat. Using an Orion full-auto in a running gunbattle over flat ground is a recipe for failure, while the Flare or Ursa would fare better there but suffer to some degree in CQB due to their lower rate of fire. The SVA-88 is often favored because of its low recoil and high rate of fire, making it a bit of a jack-of-all-trades.

Gamerlord, I'll ask you to edit your previous post please.

My rage? Weddings. I'm not getting married and yet somehow I'm:
a) dropping tons of money on this wedding
b) using up tons of vacation time

I'm in the hole about $800 so far and that's before food, gifts, lodging or gas. This is literally my vacation for the year and more than a month's worth of pay. And the day after I'm done driving back from the wedding? BUSINESS TRIP. OH JOY. Almost a solid two weeks of "No free time, no peace and quiet, stuck in a car/airplane for 5 to 6 hours a day."

Seriously. I'm thrilled you've found your life partner and are getting married. Capital, truly, magical stuff. But fuck your wedding, and all weddings for that matter. I can't even express how thrilled I was when my dad sent an EMAIL saying "just got remarried, didn't do a ceremony, just went down to the county courthouse. Wish us the best!"

And I'm not even fucking done with the weddings this year ><

Still doesn't fix the colossal lag. That's probably the worst thing. I think something is getting worse somewhere because this evening I spent an entire hour watching what was pretty much a slideshow, seeing if the FPS would pop up above 3 ever.

Reading the stuff on Planetside made me realize why I don't enjoy Warframe anymore, it's too friggin' irritating trying to get better equipment in that game because of the way their stupid crafting works, and how some materials will drop every time and then other materials will rarely ever drop, and then you only get like 20 of them, when you need about 500 for even a simple item.

I would, but this is my immediate family. And they've been trying to get me to come visit them for about....oh.....15 years.

So unfortunately I owe them face time, and the last time I wore my suit was about 4 years ago or more for a funeral. So that necessitates both spending money and traveling. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

And when my brother gets hitched next year I'm finally going to be out of excuses for missing their family Thanksgiving. More traveling! More family! More RAEG.

That might actually work. Then I can slip into a turkey-induced coma and avoid talking to people :P

So I'm sitting in a hot tub today at this water park hotel thing. It has a fence around it, and a fancy magnetic baby gate thing so you can't get in without the intelligence and height of a six year old (theoretically).

I'm sitting here, relaxing, and see a baby walk in, through a giant hole between the end of the fence and the wall. (Big enough for anyone who couldn't open the gate to get through, at least.) He walks back out, a life guard sees him and makes a questioning face, then goes back to watching her pool. The baby (has to be under 3 years old), walks back in and sits on the step of the hot tub, almost slipping (I almost jumped over the pool to him...) but luckily catches himself and just sits on the steps. About six minutes later, as I was getting out to tell somebody that, "Hey, a baby is sitting unsupervised in the friggin' hot tub," his mother comes up and is like "Oh, there you are." without any sense of worry or anything. The hot tub is the one unsupervised area, and if that slip was a little worse, and I hadn't been there, that could have gone really, really badly.
