*Was Venat evil? I still don't know! I can't actually tell if it was trying to manipulate Vayne into conquering the world and then possessing him, or if it legitimately wanted to free humanity from the Occuria and did what it believed was necessary to make that happen.

I think he genuinely wanted to free humanity, giving how pissed the other Occuria got when Ashe just mentions his name, and felt that Vayne was the only one ruthless and manipulative enough to actually pull it off.

...the fact that Venat didn't abandon Vayne during the final battle, even though Reddas had already destroyed the Sun Cryst, thereby accomplishing Venat's plan, and instead sticking with Vayne right to the end(possibly resulting in Venat's death as well as Vayne's). I don't think an evil divine being would stick to his friends/servants like that.

Trying to sign in the check the balance on a prepaid debit card I've forgotten about.

Keeps saying my password is incorrect. Luckily I remember the (in)security question to change it. Then it tells me the password I changed it to is incorrect. Thinking I might have made a mistake when changing it, I change it again. "The new password may not be the same as the old one".

Right, and that's what happened if Venat was not evil. If he was evil, he would have possessed Vayne rather than merging with him. In this case, he thought he was going to win the battle with the party, and had manipulated Vayne into conquering the world so that he'd be the perfect puppet body, and Cid and the party into destroying the Sun Cryst so that the Occuria couldn't give anybody else the power to overthrow him. Since Vayne never speaks after Venat does his thing, we don't know if it's Vayne or Venat in charge at the end. Admittedly, Occam's Razor favors your version. It's just that Venat drops so many dialogue clues like, "May you attain all that which is your due", that I kept suspecting an ulterior motive, because how often do you see people say things like that sincerely.

You know, I think what bothered me most was that none of our heroes had communities.  That was the thing I really liked about the other FFs--the feeling that everyone had a home they missed, or belonged somewhere.  They had attachments.  Someone should know who Balthier really is.  I'd think the passers-by would ogle Fran.  Basch goes from notorious to not in a mini-game, with no further consequence.  Penelo and Vaan are from somewhere and never reflect on their upbringing or have trouble adapting to their new lives.  Oh, and no one knows who Ashe is, she blends in perfectly, and we don't see any friction between her and the commoners...

I guess it's got the same issue for me as FFVII did for SalmonGod.  There's events happening and different backgrounds for various characters, but they don't seem to really interact with each other or have any impact.

I simply couldn't relate to anything in game. The hero? He was designed to with 13 year old boys in mind. The world? Seeing many of the races from FFT:A that I didn't like suddenly rendered in 3d didn't do me any favors. The places they asked you to go? For a game that delivered  so many magical locations during the series, FF12 gave you boring-ass deserts, swamps and savannahs. It took half the bloody game before you even saw something approaching a forest.

Really there's only one thing I liked about FF12, and that was the monster hunts. I gave up on the storyline midway to do those, and once I became outleveled by them, I just quit and never went back. FF12 was pretty much the last nail in the coffin as far as Final Fantasy goes, for me. I didn't see the franchise ever coming back to a place I enjoyed. Now it's firmly in the realm of jiggly girls, pop music and stupid mechanics.

MBAM and SUPERAntiSpyware kicked their ass, but blegh. I lost 45 minutes of my life to shitty malware that doesn't even do anything intresting or is a challenge to remove.
