it's kind of sad that people who have a moral compass are more or less screwed in today's society, don't you think?

wish you luck in finding something.

I can always try lets plays. And desperately hope that I somehow get enough viewers to live off of it! (yeah, right)

Or try programming. That's still a possibility.

I'm pretty sure my computer has a virus but no matter what I do I can't track it down.

Why do you know?
Did you scan with MBAM?

I did a full scan with it. I don't know for SURE if it's a virus. Bu 50% of my memory is always being used, even when I'm not doing anything at all. Unless there's some sort of magical hidden program running I don't know about, I'm going with super hidden virus that doesn't really do much more than slow me down slightly.

Go get Processor Explorer from MS. The default Task Manager is garbage for discovering anything about processes running on your system.

... and be sure to tick the little "Show Processes From All Users" option. People seem to miss that, I guess? Task manager has something similar under the processes tab.

E: Also might need to tick on a few extra columns. Same deal with task manager, there's a lot of information that's hidden by default.

I'm never entirely sure which it is that's eating up RAM, anyway. Working set? Private bytes? Pretty sure it's not virtual size. I just turn on most of it.

My CV is a source of RAGE.

I'm useless with this sort of thing. Utterly useless. It's like they decided that I'd need to make something that pushes on all my weak points. I'm bad at describing myself, I rather lack in self confidence so I feel like a tit half the time when I do, I have NO hobbies, I lack any employment barring my work experience, which makes me a prime candidate for 'sorry, we're looking for someone with more experience.', which is shitty as hell, because you *can't* get experience if NO PLACE WILL HIRE YOU BECAUSE YOU LACK ANY!

The experience thing is pretty bullshit. I guess you could get an internship somewhere and then list it as your work experience. Or do an independent project that is related to the job you're applying for and present it. Would be useful to know what you're actually qualified for.

I really doubt you have _no_ hobbies, period, it's simply that you don't consider them hobbies.

E: making LPs count as hobby. Making skins counts as hobby. Reading counts as hobby. MUSIC counts as hobby. Hell, games count as hobby.

... has mentioning gaming as a hobby stopped being a sure-fire way to get your application rejected? I've definitely had a few warnings over the years to, like, not mention that. But things change, I guess.

Yeah... think of anything you've spent a decent amount of time doing, what you have accomplished in relation to those things, and how those accomplishments demonstrate skills and qualities that relate to the job you're applying for.  It doesn't have to be professional work.  It just has to convince someone that you're worth looking into.  Be sure that you present this information in a way that can be understood at a glance.  Concise.

My mom decides to drag me to the emergency room on Sunday because she(or probably my stepdad) is tired of hearing my cough, which they claim goes on all night, which wouldn't be possible because I wouldn't be able to sleep if I were. I only go to shut her up, and because it would have taken armed violence to get her off my back otherwise(and I am not exaggerating).

Of course, the time from leaving home and leaving there was pretty much exactly an hour, and all they did was give me a prescription for an OTC medicine and a referral to a nose/throat specialist my mother seems to have forgotten entirely about. Of course, despite her claims of looking out for my health, she takes several hours to go an pick up the prescription, stating that there's no rush because the pharmacy doesn't close until 4:30.

And I still have this goddamn cough. Every day, I feel it getting slightly better, but it's just not going away. I've also got this irritating taste/smell of what I think is smoke that has saturated my sinus membrane.

If you listed it as the only hobby, then it probably will. Otherwise, it's probably a coin toss. The attitudes towards gamers are changing a bit now that it stopped being an automatically nerdy and uncool thing. I mostly mentioned it since, as I mentioned, many things you don't consider hobbies are, in fact, at least technically hobbies.

Depends on the type of gaming, I imagine.

Role-playing -- Writing, book-keeping, creative problem solving, etc.  If you're a GM or something, then I'd say that's a form of leadership experience.  Get the idea?

Yeah, a lot of people won't buy it because of cultural prejudices.  But if you have nothing else to sell yourself on, then you might as well fish for people who will, and they are out there.  Just learned recently that the guy who interviewed me for my new job is a role-player, and we even talked for a little bit about some more obscure games.  I let a bit of my culture slip in the interview and it may have helped me (he did not - I didn't know he's a gamer until three weeks later).  You never know.

You can cough reflexively while asleep.

Yeah, I got my new job because my interviewer's father is a mathematician and she was willing to take a gamble on someone totally untrained in her field.  I just went in, basically said "Yeah, I have no experience with the software you want me to use for this skills exercise, but these are the steps I would use to get x information out of y data set."
