It's hardly like achievements matter in many games... The only one where it matters is TF2, and even then that's just a few weapons.

It is that they don't matter at all... and they only serve to bring you out of the game when they pop up.

That seems like a bit of an overreaction to just one element of a really good service. The alternatives aren't really much better, I mean there's Windows Live and Origin which have the exact same problems but worse.

It is a quality thing I made a long time ago.

Unless the point of a game is achievements, forced achievement pop up puts it in the trash category.

Well, that's your opinion, but I think it's quite restricting in terms of what you can get. A lot of games are steam only nowadays.

You're really not going to like the future, and the government mandated forced achievement pop-ups that will take up half the screen. Only about two games a year break this rule, and their public executions via space crucifixion are broadcast through the solar system to warn off any game developer who would dare break this hard and fast rule.

It is bad enough that you cannot turn it off on the Xbox or PS3... (I think)

Edit: Apperantly they not so recently allowed you to turn it off on the PS3... I am stunned actually.
