... amusing thing with Opera, at least th'version I'm using, is that while there are separate search and url bars, the url bar can be used as a search bar if you feel like it. Preface the query with a letter (g, ferex, if you want google) and you can pick yer search engine on the fly. S'a little search bar to the right of the url too, though.

I likes it, m'self. Opera's been pretty good to me, so far.

I love my merged URL and search bars. I always find myself typing searches into IE and getting "http://cute+kitten+pictures does not exist".

I mean, I guess that's what those additional search bars are for, but I'm of the opinion that every additional bar on your browser makes it exponentially uglier.

This reminds me of the time my grandma called a bunch of people round to help her move the furniture out.around that she didn't need after my grandad died. I knew that no matter where I put the wardrobe it'd be in the wrong place, so the best I could do was put it somewhere where I could put it somewhere else easily.

Ah, there's the principle!

When doing something complex/for a heavy-handed, uptight person, do things in such a way that A) they can be easiest to undo/move again, B) is easy to read what's been done (for programming, mostly here) and C) get's the job done as best as possible considering the former two points, which take precedence.

But merged search and url bars are the most elegant thing I've ever seen D: It's also a good reason why I don't use Safari on my iPhone.
