Whenever I try to start steam the past few days it starts trying to update using this odd window and then crashes while complaining that it can't update because it's not online. The only way I've been able to access Steam at all is through this SteamTmp file and that doesn't let me access the store or any of the community pages.

I had the same weird window. I cancelled it on the third time it came up in a row, and the next time that window wasn't there and the normal steam start-up was.

My steam ended up letting me log-in even with the weird window, though, so it might be different.

I feel very happy.
