First off, my World Geography is a joke after the history class I took last year. The homework, the few times we have been given it, only takes about 30 minutes to complete, we are given a week to study for a map test on, say, the Canadian provinces, when last year I was given two days to memorize all the capitals and countries of Africa. So naturally I use the period as a study period. Anyways, during that period, we were told that we would have to memorize the countries of South America by next Friday, and were given a blank map, which we would then use to fill in the names of all the countries. I asked if this would be for a grade. Our teacher said no. So I then just went and studied for our weekly 75+ word vocab quiz in English, while practicing log/exponitial form equations. At the end of the period, somethign apparently ticked off our teacher, and right before the bell rang, he yelled that if we didn't complete the map, then we would have after school detention. So now I have after school detention on Monday afternoon, until 4:00, which is not that bad, but the problem is that I have an academic match at a school all the way across the county at 5:00, and I will have to leave at 3:50 in order to make it in time. Plus I have to get a ride with someone else, since both my parents are working that day.
So basically I was lied to, and then given punishment disproportionate to the offense, when I didn't know I was offending, because I was lied to. And because of that I might miss a major match.
