Ugh, now GOG won't let me buy Imperial Glory. And I also just learned I can't return the wireless adapter I bought last week, only exchange.

Is it really a registry of mentally ill people? Or is it a registry of people who are not legally allowed to purchase a firearm including those convicted of violent or drug related felonies, as well as the mentally ill and whoever else makes that list.

No, no it's what it says on the tin.

You'd think Wayne LaPierre might be against that, considering he should be on it since he's fucking batshit crazy.

But really, the irony of the NRA supporting a computerized national registry of ANYTHING is just breathtaking, considering how they've fought for decades against allowing the BATF to computerize ANYTHING remotely resembling a registry of gun owners, gun licenses, gun sales, etc.

And usually done so using Orwellian rhetoric that a computerized database inherently erodes our freedoms, Big Brother, etc. etc.

You know, a national firearms registry isn't a terrible idea.

But you get all the people afraid that the "socialist gubment' gonna taek yer GUUUUUNS!" will think that its the first step in the plan.

As long as gun control advocates are talking about banning guns, a national firearms registry is never going to be acceptable to a lot of people.

Thats pretty fucking funny.

I dunno.. guns are fine if they are in the right hands.

I tried holding an M10, i loved holding it. I want one. Just so i can pick it up and feel its weight. Maybe shoot some targets or a bird.
Not for shooting up my school or anything, would never kill anyone.

Aren't the majority of gun control advocates in the states, y'know. Not? Talking about banning guns? Other than maybe assault weapons (whatever the hell those are that day of the week) that's generally not what I've seen advocated, and even in the case of those it's tended toward much stricter regulation than outright banning.

I guess it's just that the fringe babbling is all that's needed to strawman the whole movement or something?

Fringe babbling is loudest babbling. Guess what gets heard of on the news the most.

There are talks of re-implementing the assault weapons ban, and possibly new restrictions on semi-automatic handguns as well as large-capacity clips.

Kinda funny, I was watching the news last night at my in-laws, and my staunchly Republican father-in-law was getting pissed and grousing about not understanding why they don't just ban all "multi-shot" handguns and rifles. I'm guessing he meant everything that wasn't a bolt-action single-shot rifle or breech-loaded shotgun. And no, he wasn't being sarcastic. (Of course, he's a transplanted New York Republican, not our home-grown "God, guns and gays" variety...)

I would have no problem supporting such legislation. Unlike the assault weapons ban, which I think is stupid since it wouldn't actually accomplish much of anything best I can tell, that sort of limitation potentially could.

We should ban all weapons except for black-powder smoothbore dueling pistols.

No. Ban ALL the weapons.

First off, my World Geography is a joke after the history class I took last year.  The homework, the few times we have been given it, only takes about 30 minutes to complete, we are given a week to study for a map test on, say, the Canadian provinces, when last year I was given two days to memorize all the capitals and countries of Africa.  So naturally I use the period as a study period.    Anyways, during that period, we were told that we would have to memorize the countries of South America by next Friday, and were given a blank map, which we would then use to fill in the names of all the countries.  I asked if this would be for a grade.  Our teacher said no.  So I then just went and studied for our weekly 75+ word vocab quiz in English, while practicing log/exponitial form equations.  At the end of the period, somethign apparently ticked off our teacher, and right before the bell rang, he yelled that if we didn't complete the map, then we would have after school detention.  So now I have after school detention on Monday afternoon, until 4:00, which is not that bad, but the problem is that I have an academic match at a school all the way across the county at 5:00, and I will have to leave at 3:50 in order to make it in time.  Plus I have to get a ride with someone else, since both my parents are working that day.
So basically I was lied to, and then given punishment disproportionate to the offense, when I didn't know I was offending, because I was lied to.  And because of that I might miss a major match.

That's a bit extreme. How do you expect us to kill all these lawyers without a weapon? You know that if a lawyer bites you, you become a lawyer seven days later, right? We need some sort of ranged weapon to deal with that.
Which brings me to the Slingshot proposal.
