Depending on what she'd do, it might be worth it to just slip out a window. It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
Especially when permission would require breaking the Great Wall of Right she's behind.

Next time, try and get her agreement in writing. Time, location, date, and her signature.

And keep it safe!

Don't think that'd work, Descan. Sounds like the type of parent that wants iron fisted totalitarian control.

Not much you can do against such, except what Flying Dice suggested.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Oh, it isn't designed to WORK as stated. It's to undermine the illusion of authority she holds. Either she agrees, in which case you can say "Yeah, you agreed. You were told. Your fault you forgot, I'm going." Or she doesn't agree, in which case "Why not? You've already agreed, it's just a formality so you don't forget. Unless you're going to back out from your word."

Or something.

Aw. Apparently you need steam to play Team Fortress 2. ::) I was going to download it to play with a friend, too. Oh well.

Oh, right. No, I've been avoiding steam for ages, I'm not about to download it now. :P
Now, if only Gamersgate actually worked, so I could buy the original X-Com...

Steam is a good service.  If all you're going to do is play a free game on it, you have nothing to lose but maybe some sort of stubborn pride.  I promise it won't leave any malware residue behind to eat your computer when you uninstall it.

I support steam. Their greenlight program seems like a good thing.

...I think you just hit on the heart of the issue. :-\ It's bad enough that I was about to download and play TF2 after years of calling it silly, I'm not going to change my stance on Steam as well!

I'm kind of annoyed with the timing, though.  They rolled that out *just* as Rapture Games submitted its first game to them.  We're having trouble getting it through.  Go vote for Gunblitz!!!
