Andrew Jackson wasn't evil. He was driven to it, by the scandal that killed his wife.

It was the utter vitrolic racism towards Native Americans, not the duel that would make him considered evil.

I am suddenly realizing: Jackson was an exceptional duelist, and rarely failed to kill his opponent or at least hit them, but even though he knew that he hated Charles Dickenson so much that he took a high chance of being shot and maybe even killed to ensure that Dickenson would die.

That is some extreme hatred from an already very angry man.

Suddenly Andrew Jackson is a little bit more scary.

Normally I stay out of American politics, but I found on YouTube (where else) a person vitrolically supporting the viewpoint that the Confederates should have won the civil war. You know, the slaving side? I don't even.

That list is also pretty terrible. They could have found somewhat more creative posts against Obama then just 31 easy-level racist tweets.

Like this. Just listen to that rage. Glorious.

Normally I stay out of American politics, but I found on YouTube (where else) a person vitrolically supporting the viewpoint that the Confederates should have won the civil war. You know, the slaving side? I don't even.

Bear in mind that the actual American civil war was not soley based on slavery like so many people (many Americans, too) commonly believe.

If I recall correctly, it was more to do with the Southern states not liking the amount of control the national government was trying to enforce over them. For example, the push to drop slavery like that would have ruined the plantations' labor force and throw their economy down the drain, but the US government wouldn't hear about it and pushed more of their buttons until a few states felt they had crossed a line and seceded. It escalated from there.

This summary probably isn't exactly right, but the point is that the Civil War was more to do with states' rights compared to the national government, and not just slavery.

Besides, slavery had been around a long while before the South started it. Africa was part of the slaving problem, considering their people were willing to enslave their prisoners of war and sell them to willing buyers.

No It was slavery, and the states rights stuff is historical revisionism. They even said it in their governing document, It wadthe point

And while the issue of slavery is as old as the greeks, Race-based slavery is recent. It is generally considered to have started with the atlantic slave trade.

Ye Olde slavery, back 1000 years ago and whatnot, didn't completely dehumanize slaves either. They were basically just indentured servants. You owed someone money, so you worked it off. That's it.

New Age slavery is about owning people like animals.
