So, yesterday I decide to be all cool and take the initiative of organizing the curtains section, which has been crapped up by the lazy night crew putting stuff in the wrong spot and putting too many of the same item out. Manager says, "Yes, that's a very good idea. Do that. Your coworker will help you." This is about 1:00, and I leave at 4:00, coworker leaves at 5:00. I figure we can get some stuff done, he can take care of the extra curtains.
A little while later, the same manager comes by and says, "Hey, you need to stop that and put some other stuff in the back." So I start going through the process of doing that, which takes me long enough where it's time for me to go. I can't find my coworker to double check with him to take care of the mess that curtains was in, so I leave.
(Management turns into a bunch of screaming rapists if you go even one minute over your time. There's only one exaggeration, there.)Today I get to work, manager calls me in, says, "What happened yesterday?" and proceeds to basically lay the blame of the mess that curtains was left in on me. I explain had no intention of letting that happen, and thought my coworker was going to take care of it. She starts pulling stuff out of her butt, such as how she told me that I had to stop and take care of the curtains that were left over from us cleaning up, and starts threatening me with a reprimand that will go on my record, which makes transferring hell. She knows I want to transfer some time next year when I move.
So I'm sitting there with two options: I can either pretend she really did tell me to take care of the curtains and that it was all my fault and skip the reprimand, or tell her that she didn't tell me to do that and they need to find a better scapegoat to release whatever high-paid crap their managerial butts have to deal with on and get a reprimand. That's basically what it boiled down to - She was threatening me to save face.
I rather like my job, so I took their accusations, told the truth as far as I could without accusing her, and say that I didn't remember her telling me that (Which was true - Can't remember what didn't happen). She and another manager still do a job of running me through the sacrificial coals, claim they're not picking on me, and let me go with nothing but a warning and a raging temper. I think they started getting uncomfortable with my expression near the end. I didn't realize how angry I was until later.
Lesson learned? Don't take the initiative at Wal-Mart. Management tells you they want it, but what they really want is you to shut up and keep being a mindless clone.
Throw that on top of how they're cutting hours, asking us to help in other parts of the store (Because we don't have enough people, because their hours got cut), and they're complaining because we're not getting work done in our areas... I'm not sure which toilet they pulled these management methods from, but it smells
bad. Get a clue, and at least pretend you're messing with real people's lives.

Even if no one read my rant,I feel much better now.
