Celsius > Fahrenheit.

Why would the freezing point of water be positive?

Because then it's easier to determine when it's just cold, and OH GOD MY WHOLE FACE FROZE.
Fahrenheit:
32-Water Freezes, it's cold
0-It's really, really, damn cold.
-20 and below, nobody cares how it's measured, it all feels the same below this point.

You can survive decently well 'till about -80 F, from what I understand, provided you have adequate protection.

One of my coworkers has view html defined in a library passed arguments using special one-off containers, that defines variables in the object that calls it through directly manipulating that object, and that is sent to be processed by javascript called from a separate view completely.

Also, all of has variables are single letters, except one, "c_p". We actually have one and only one model in our system with that abbreviation.

That variable does not contain an object of said class, but rather a custom container containing a hash that contains one of those objects.

It gets worse.

He also has code that triggers and changes the view results based on database id - despite the fact that we serve numerous different clients and the database id could represent anything.

None of this is commented, although there is /a/ comment - a huge block of code that seems almost identical, and its presence is a mystery.

I am now 3 and a half hours past the time when I was supposed to leave, because this code?

It doesn't actually work, and I need to fix it by tomorrow.

I don't even know if I can work up a rage anymore after listing that out.

If you have adequate protection, you are not surviving in -80 F. ;)

And I'm sure you can manage much better than that if your protection is adequate enough.

Well with eg a pressurized space suit you could survive pretty much anything. I'm talking more standard "tons of cloth layers."

Really? I'd be very surprised to learn this. To illustrate, 98 F is human body temp, 32 is freezing. That is evil and No. We're not dwarves here in america, we can;t run around a glacier naked and be fine. Maybe in Canada, but only there.

On a scale from broken to Atomic F-Bomb, where would this fit?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Sounds exactly like what I did when I did programming as part of introductory engineering. Except that nobody else was reading my code :P

The frustrating thing is this guy is actually a REALLY good programmer. But he follows a strongly functional style (within our heavily MVC architecture) and thinks everything is "obvious" so why should he need to make it more clear?

Hypocrisy. It is extremely annoying.
