Either that or the bad ones will end up tied to their beds while being beaten with bars of soap in socks.

I don't think a lot of people realize that Hartman was intended to be a dark satire of Drill Sergents. You aren't a successful Drill Sergent if you drive one of your recruits to homicidal insanity.

Most of Hartman's dialog was actually written by Ermey. I don't know if they even intended Hartman to be that dark, but that's where Ermey took him.

If by "written" you mean "improvised on the spot", then yes.

No, I mean, he actually wrote most of it. After showing how he wanted to play the character, Kubrik told him to go nuts.

Got a paper back from one of my professors who apparently doesn't understand the difference between "I drew an interpretation of the work that includes this concept/belief." and "I believe this myself." He decided to use his comment as a page-long rant about colonialism and revolutions. I never really thought that I'd be saying this, but holy crap I found an armchair liberal and he is as annoying as the stereotypes.  ::)

Oh man I hate plugged noses.

The best remedy I've found is really strong cough syrup. The stuff that has fumes go up and burn your nose.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I don't eat spicy food, my sense of taste is pretty sensitive and burning is not fun. I'll go smell some rubbing alchohol, I guess. Just keep it far away so I don't burn my nose :<.
