I just can't get maptools to work.

Fuck why do I have to be so bad with computers. This is going to fucking kill my D&D game. I know it.
I've run the gauntlet with maptools errors. Not saying you need to do all these, but a checklist for guaranteed connections:

1. Either allow Maptools through 51234 or turn off your firewall to be sure. (Risky; just don't go browsing shady sites while running the game.)
2. If trying for internet connections, go to whatismyip.com and give them your direct IP to connect to.
3. If on a local server, go to the command prompt and type ipconfig, give them the local address. It's probably 192.168.XXX.XXX.
4. Make sure all people attempting to connect have allowed Maptools to use their networks. (By default, Win7 and Vista block programs that connect to the internet unless you allow them on the popup the first time, or going into the properties menu afterward.)
5. Make sure they're joining as players with the right password.
6. Hope.

Hamachi makes it a bit more unstable, but might help if that fails.

Thanks for the advice Barba. Sadly it was not actually helpful. But there is sorta a solution. One of the players is going to host the server.

I kinda feel like I failed my first job as a GM, providing the server and all. But I guess the players don't feel that way.

Actually, the Fibonacci sequence is a good converter for rough estimates.

Starts being accurate at 2:3, where it's only 200m off.

Sorry I'm late but holy shit that means that I can just multiply MPH by phi to get KPH and KPH by phi-1 to get MPH

Which one? The fact that its inverse is it-1, or the fact that every number in the fibonacci sequence divided by the previous one (or in recursion, a+2/a+1) approaches phi as the sequence approaches infinity?  (it's scarily accurate just by 89/55, though)

You might try using OSU Gametable. It seems fairly straightforward, but if you decide to try it and want any help, shoot me a PM or something.

I cant properly explain why I am raging now, except that I am raging hard. Lets just say that my sort-of-superiors used me as a scapegoat for something because I did not do stuff I was not told I had to do, despite having asked about what I had had to do repeagedly, and having shown my work repeatedly to them. Not that it transpired to anything significant but the hypocrisy of it all is making me cry of rage

blech, I think I'm gonna stop playing TBS games for a bit, they all basically told me to go fuck myself by having an AI that cheats on difficulties where it shouldn't.

To be fair, it's like a fundamental feature of TBS AI that it cheats its ass off, in order to challenge a player who is going to put it on lockdown.
