This discussion of superhero/ines has lead me to a very angry thought: Superhero panty raids.

Someone call Lex Luthor, we know how to beat the Justice League.

Went to go grab lunch from a sandwich shop up the road. Spent ten full minutes looking for parking. Found at least half a dozen spots I *could* have parked in, had the person next to it actually known how to park a fucking car. Then I finally found a spot somebody was pulling out of. Took them 30 seconds to back out of the spot, pull forward, back out at a slightly different angle, pull forward, repeat ad rageum. Then just as they were about to clear the space and allow me to pull in, some bitch comes flying up the other direction and pulls into the spot, wearing an honest-to-God "U MAD?" trollface expression while doing it. I ragequit the parking lot and went somewhere else.

It's a good thing I'm not armed.
I tend to be extremely aggressive when dealing with parking spots, for this express purpose. There have been many a fistfight because some duckfaced cunt terrible driver on her cellphone and her douchebag boyfriend tried this bullshit with me. [/rage]

I just arrange it so that if they want the parking spot, they're going to have to hit my car first.

Yeah, pretty much this. Sometimes they actually try to see if I'm bluffing or playing chicken with them or something. Hence the fistfights.

If I have a passenger, I like making them standing in the spot and follow the car backing out. This does require brave passengers, though.

(Who are also smart enough to make themselves very visible at the edge of the spot.

It's basically saying:

"It's not charity if it's forced, and if you have to force it, the people will only resent it."

I read it as: "it would take guns pointed at people with money to convince them to give of themselves to the poor. Don't oppress my money bro."

Is that one of the dudes from Penn & Teller? I think it is.

It's just misdirection, attempting to make someone feel guilty so they won't pressure others to give up their wealth. I like how they put forward the Social Contract, and then take a shit all over it in the same paragraph.

So, forcing people in power to actually help people below them isn't compassion. I'll buy that. Let's still force people in power to do it, though.

It's basically saying:

"It's not charity if it's forced, and if you have to force it, the people will only resent it."
Boo-fucking-hoo. Such douchebags can resent it all they like.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Yeah, I'm more opposed to the idea that helping people is about feeling good rather than doing good.

(I learned a new word today, appose.)

Don't care what justification he wants, I'm still partial to the idea of forcing people in power to do it.

Sometimes I wonder if there are people out there who think Robin Hood was the villain of his story. Taking money from the rich to give to the poor, and all that.

Good question.  I'm going to bring that up next time I get into an argument with that type.
