I have a friend who can literally military press a couch, and he needed my help moving my tv. Yeah, it's a pretty big (50") DLP tv, but damn.

Well to be fair, they don't weigh much but its a big tv and muscles man doesn't want the risk of blowing it up. Hey you might get something out from helping in the end.

People who say "But how can it be broken? It was working BEFORE!"

NO SHIT SHERLOCK. That's the definition of broken -- it used to work, now it doesn't. If it never worked, it would just be a dud. Like your brain.

Imagine if people used this logic with things other than technology.
"How can he be dead? He was breathing earlier!"
"How can this milk be bad? It was still good yesterday!"

I hate when professors do this thing where they ask a question on a test, and then they ask the exact opposite question.

Actually I only hate that when it results in entirely too many questions about the one day of class I missed.

Well, now they do at least.

People who can't drive, operating vehicles.

I was hit yesterday by someone coming round a corner too fast, today I was nearly hit by a person in the wrong lane to turn, not indicating.

Very senior staff member at meeting of assembled staff (containing the usual ratios of assorted varied sexualities): "After all, you have a choice regarding your sexual orientation..."

Needless to say, this didnt go down well, and things wont be settling down for a while.

Huh... I wonder if he's ever thought about that statement. Could he be sexually attracted to a man if he tried really hard? I know I can comparatively rate attractiveness "man, that guy's a lot better looking than me," but I don't think I could sit around and focus reaaaaaally hard to make myself get a woody over a dude.

Maybe the staff member's really bisexual and just assumes everyone's like that.

Edit: Welp, there goes my sexism assuming a high up in an office is a man. Gotta love it (not at all)

Really phrasing it like that makes me think he's gonna go on to say "...so we thank you for choosing HeterosexualityTM as your sexuality of choice".

I never understood why people even think this is important. Even if it was a choice, one still would not have the leisure of bullying people into doing what one wants them to do. It is as to imply “We know you made a choice1, so you have no right to complain if we mistreat you for it.”

1. A completely harmless choice, but that is somehow never mentioned.

It's a convenient and extremely bullshit reason to hate groups of people. "If they don't like our prejudice, they should leave said group."

It's also a convenient and also bullshit to defend groups of people. As if being born with personality traits is an excuse. Some people are born jerks, but it's not like I'm going to tolerate that.

Choice of group affiliation is irrelevant.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
