supposed to help with insomnia for those who spend a lot of time on the computer.

...
Is that a thing? Maybe I should look into that, as total inability to sleep is sort of an issue right now.
Indeedy. You're supposed to do without "forced light" (light from electronic sources, like video games, tvs and computer screens,) for an hour before you go to bed.

Pffffhehehehe!
I don't see how or why I would do such a thing. (okay, the why was stated, but I don't think it's good enough.)

It's a whole thing that's been touched off by treatments for, yes, that's right SAD.

Have you got access to a USB drive and a power button? You could burn a Linux Live CD (if you're just browsing, it comes with Firefox and you shouldn't have to learn anything linuxy to do it) and boot from it, see how long that flies. Probably run into problems with the internet connection, but it's worth a shot. Uh, recommend a flash drive you could stand to lose, though, somebody might notice and take issue with your shenanigans.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Training And Further Education. It is sort of the Australian version of community collage, but some of the courses there are actually valued. While a university here will focus on a pure education aspect, TAFE will focus on employment and the skill required to fill a job. It specialises in all forms of blue collar employment (In fact the vast majority of apprenticeships are done through TAFE) and most forms of white collar employment, while including some engineering roles and several, but limited scientific roles.
It also has a wide range of very short courses that are more about having the paper work than learning anything, such as the RSA (Responsible service of alcohol) and RCG (Responsible conduct of Gambling)
In some areas it also offers an equivalent to a higher school certificate for people who came from third world countries where education was limited.

So pretty much what you do when you don't need a bachelor of X.

Yeah, I think that blue light informs your brain that it's wonderful wonderful daytime and going to sleep now is absolutely ridiculous. At least that's the theory.

It's especially bad if you have a laptop and use it in bed which turns your bed into a comfy computer chair rather than a place for sleep.

I heard green tinted glasses are supposed to be really good.

Though my Rage here is that my parents won't let me get the photochromic coating on my new lenses, saying that they don't work.

I have a friend at school who has them. The most definitely work.

Okay here's one.  There is this one guy in my math class with the most annoying voice I have heard in awhile.  And on every Tuesday and Thursday around 2pm he comes to the library (I'm usually here by then) and I get to here his awful voice speak to his group of friends he is always with.  Last time before spring break he was obsessed with whistling popular songs argahrgahgrha it's so aggravating.

I need to make sure I head to class so I don't get stuck near him since last time I left around the same time his group did so I had to bear his voice and mannerisms for an extra two minutes which is making me shake

He can't help he has such a horrible voice, but he can help not to talk in the damn library at least.  I can hear every syllable.

Hmm maybe I should write English essays before posting I feel more verbose! (for good or bad)

He thinks Facebook started League of Legends?  ???
You're hilarious.

Speaking of annoying people, when I was in middle school there was a guy who would always sit next to me on the bus.  Always.  Every single fucking time.  There weren't assigned seats.  I moved everywhere to try to get away from this kid, because I like sitting alone.  He followed me.  Eventually I figured out that I could cover up with my coat and he wouldn't notice me or something, but eventually he figured that out too.  Never talked.  Never even said hi.  Just sat there, right next to me.  Creepy fucking kid, man.
