You can, though roughly. I've translated and written poetry in a few languages successfully. It just... Presents a logistical challenge that makes it a pain in the ass. If you understand the language then you can wade your way through confusing grammar and expressions and eek out a haphazard translation.

I'm just curious because the only word I understood from that entire thing was Summer.

I translated it, though, in case you missed it. Otherwise I'm with fqllve, though. You can get the words and the rhythm right, but you still be able to carry over the nuances as well as the linguistical history-culture.

edit: removed unfunny German-anti-nazi-laws joke.

I have no idea what that says. Care to translate? =)
You can't translate poetry! Unless you use Babelfish, and then it becomes an entirely different kind of poetry.

Tell that to vector.

Went back and read it, thanks!

Also, not sure if the joke sucked or if you deemed it unfunny due to its political ramifications. Either way, I am sure it was made in good spirit~

It was concerning Darvi and Japa's exchange, and it wasn't funny because there was no fun in it ;)

Vector is Babelfish, but actually knows how to translate stuff.

Isn't GEMA the group that demanded royalties from an event that was using only creative commons music?

Inlaws. GAAAAHHHH!

Not a single one of them has a positive or constructive relationship with any of the others. Everyone treats everyone else like shit, and I get left trying to put the pieces back together when it comes the way of my little family.

I just dont understand why constantly being foul to each other is attractive.

Basically, anything that GEMA manages the license for, is blocked on youtube.

Also:

Quote
Germany, case law has established the so-called GEMA Vermutung, a presumption that works are managed by GEMA due to its monopoly position. As such, in Germany the burden of proof is on the accused infringer that the work is not managed by GEMA.

This means that if a video so much as has something as a background music that might be managed by GEMA, the vid will be blocked.

So what music actually works on youtube in Germany, then? That seems rather vague.
