Close friend got beat up by homophobes earlier >,..,<

* The Merchant Of Menace gets her castrating knife

Can I help? With the revenge/avenging/whatever, I mean. I'm really good with fire. :P

you in Britain?

I'm not homosexual, but I hate people who think that their way is better than others'

now... where did I put my shurikens...

A little late, but...
Did somebody say something about both castration and bladed weapons?

You should do it with nun-chucks so it qualifies as Bruce Lee style instead.

So one of my co-workers, who was scheduled to work today, is out of the country. I'm fairly certain he cleared this well ahead of time, but it would appear that the supervisors just totally forgot to schedule somebody to take his place. So, between that and some trouble in the psych ward slowing down some deliveries there, this day got off to a great start. Then, it turns out that there was a mixup with some earlier deliveries, requiring the only other person who can help cover the missing person's shift to go to the basement and sort it out. So, for about 30 minutes, I'm doing the job of 3 very busy people.

And then it turns out the basement printer broke for 2 hours and nobody noticed. Now, let me explain. That particular printer is the one on which the instructions from pharmacists to prepare medications print. Without it, no instructions are given, because the pharmacists are scattered across the entire hospital. This isn't the only pharmacy, but it has, by a wide margin, the largest number of orders to fill (they just tend to be faster to do than the orders that go to other ones, and less urgent). As a result, when they fixed it, several hundred orders printed all at once, several overdue.

I believe this day is precisely what the word "clusterfuck" was invented to describe.

I'm just glad I got a lunch (even if it took so long that by the time I get done, I'll only have another half hour on my shift; food is better than no food). Which, to be fair, probably makes this solidly a "1st World Problems" sort of day to be venting about, but it's still awfully frustrating.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Hospital problems are never 1st world problems.* They are very real problems.

*For me, 1st world problems are things like: The topping fell of my pizza! or Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner again!

Hospitals always seem like they're 5 minutes away from becoming a total clusterfuck.

Katanas, Wakizashi, Ninja-to, Jian, Hookswords, Broadsword (and variants), Arming Sword (and variants), Katzbalger, Scimitar (and variants), Rapier/Epee, Saber...I use them all fairly well. I don't have most of them currently because of financial constraints, but I've been swordfighting for almost 12 years. I like swords. :))

Two. Unless I hold one in my mouth. That, however, is very difficult. I can also hold throwing knives with my toes, if that counts. I can only hit a target at about 10 paces with any regularity, though. :-\

My Dad has a set of throwing knives that I mess around with on a scrap wood door.  It's kind of fun.
