What I want to do: spend my morning/day coding.

What I have to do: spend my morning/day memorizing sushi rolls and attending a four-hour long work meeting.

drivers with there Hazard lights on in the snow going at about 5mph.
there doing it wrong as Hazard lights are only for when you've either broken down or had to stop in some sort of emergency i.e. on the motorway or on dual carriageway in a emergency stop.

doing so in town just couse of some snow stops every one from seeing your indicators.

The continued existence of Stephen Harper.

I am probably the only American who has a beef about the continuing aliveness of Stephen Harper.

I just can't stand the thought of passively absorbing media for such a huge continuous chunk of my free time, when I could be doing something interactive.

So you don't read stuff either?

Reading is far more active than watching a film.  You are actively involved in interpreting all of these words into a mental image.  With films you just recline and let it all come at you.

I don't do a whole lot of reading anymore, though.  I used to read a lot, but I'm pretty spoiled by gaming these days.  I also don't have much free time, which has lead to a general drop in attention span.

Depends on the film. Even with a straightforward film, there's ways to watch movies actively. I highly recommend a MST3k approach for action movies and such, for instance.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I had origionally booked a flight, it went like so:

Kolkata->Frankfurt
Frankfurt->San Francisco
San Francisco->Denver
Denver->Washington
Washington->Frankfurt
Frankfurt->Kolkata.

Now, as far as I can figure, it goes like so:
Frankfurt->San Francisco
Kolkata->Mumbai
Mumbai->Frankfurt
San Francisco->Denver
Denver->Washington
Washington->Frankfurt
Frankfurt->Mumbai
Mumbai->Kolkata

Look carefully at the first three.

Wait, they expect you to rent a car in San Francisco and drive back to Kolkata? (I have never seen it spelled that way, but hey, lazy brained 'murrican public school.)

Apparently I fly to frankfurt via mumbai from kolkata, then I hop into a time machine, go back a day or two, and fly to SF from there.

The random encounter rate in Pokemon Emerald is too damn high. I can't take 5 steps at a time. Literally.

You hate them for doing what they do to make money?
I mean it isn't like they are making large, flashy ads that tell you to catch the ball, you are the 999,999,999th visitor, or a virus was found on your computer. They aren't trying to trick the ignorant masses into clicks.
They are cleanly and honestly promoting the ads that make them money, in exchange for a significant amount of free services.
