I swear, you guys are all getting your facts from the Zombie Survival guide :P
I read it, and I hate the "destroy the stairs" thing.

Too bad zombies are stronger than you, and will dislocate your arms.

Why would they be? Rotted muscle fibres are much weaker than non-rotted ones. Zombies aren't scary because they're strong, or fast, or smart. They're scary because there could be billions of them.
They're stronger due to the survival mechanism making only 20% of your muscle used being disabled. x5 normal strength. Even if equal, they'd still surround and claw you, up until the point you pass out from wearing 200pounds of armor, and then they'll claw off your armor.

They don't need to stop to rest, giving them a very powerful first assault. A determined zed can do things that would kill a human from physical strain. Enough of them can pull plate armor apart at the joints.

It is one of the best zed survival guides out there.

Only if there's enough of them. And "Infected Splinters" can't happen.

I actually haven't read the Zombie Survival Guide (yet).  I've just daydreamed about this a lot, and have read/watched/played a lot of zombie stories/movies/games.

Btw... the zombie survival tangent seems to be self-sustaining enough to deserve its own thread.

Found out my grandmother's car was broken into this morning.  Not damaged as far as she can tell, just completely rifled through.  What did they steal?  Three bottles of laundry soap, a car-seat (like, for a baby), and her registration sticker.

It is possible that your grandma was the victim of a crime of need. Crackhead will not care to steal laundry soap and a baby car seat. A mother who can not afford laundry soap or a car seat for her child might. Of course it is also possible that the she is ALSO a crackhead.

Like I said, they also stole her registration sticker, when going through her glovebox.  They also opened the trunk, but there was nothing back there.  Those items were stolen because they were the all the things in the car.

I said crackhead because I meant crackhead.  I know them, I know how they think.  They look at stuff like car seats and especially an unused sticker and think "quick money".

Well, that all depends on the time frame. If the zombie is fresh, then yes, but if this is even a couple of weeks into the outbreak most of the walkers are going to be somewhat rotten. A few months and they'll be falling apart. By that point you could probably pull them apart like raw hamburger with your bare hands (not recommended, get some gloves).

Nope; muscle use is typically constrained to something closer to 2/3 of the strength at which the muscles will fail (up to around 80% for strength trainers/weight lifters), with very high adrenaline (such as when you are chased by zombies) increasing that to something around 90%. [citation]

The other reason zombies would in fact likely be weaker is because they would not be constrained by said survival restraints. If they do in fact increase past the ability of normal humans, the muscle tissue would shred under the forces in a very short period of exertion.

Or their bones would splinter if they go long enough without overexerting their muscles to avoid tearing them. Not a lot of calcium in their diet, though there is probably plenty of everything else that goes into bones. That'd be kinda hilarious to see, actually.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

...I think zombies would last without rotting longer than they are usually given credit for. Advanced putrefaction takes quite a bit to settle in, and the very fact that it wouldn't be still on the floor would help to delay it further.

.... then again, unless they are magical zombies (and maybe even then) logic demands that they are not actually dead, and hence you'd expect them not to rot in a conventional way at all due to the tissue being functioning

I went down to the bus stop at 8:10 today to wait for a bus, an hour before class began, because I knew the protests were going to cause problems.  I ended up waiting until 9:00 before one (that wasn't so full that it wouldn't let people board) finally came.  In that time, 5 or 6 buses usually use that stop.

I'm pretty upset about this development.

Not exactly rage worthy, but it dosn't fit into the sad thread.

I stubbed my toe on the sharp corner of a small wooden box in the middle on the floor sat my parents place.
It was painful, some skin was scraped off and there was blood. (not much blood, but still blood.)
The.. pain.. it lasted quite a while.
