And those pictures of birds arent actually taken on the island itself.  There is no shore on that island, all around is at least 6 feet of straight up concrete wall from the lowest point on the island to the water level.  Like to see an able bodied human climb that unassisted, let alone a zombie.  Would only really need to worry about the dock on the south side, but that's easily enough destroyed or rendered safe.  Especially if I can take out those bridges.

I think my biggest worries would be hurricanes, and even then only a big one that can raise the sealevel more than 6 feet.
Zombies will follow you, and that zombie's moans will alert the others. They will pile into the water, until they form a meat ramp into your base.

Then....then...damn, punching holes in my plan.  Maybe then I'll just retreat to the court house.  Everybody hates that place, maybe the zombies will too.

Damn now I want to play a game in which you play a zombie that's on the run from the military, while preventing your hunger for Braaaaaiiinz from taking over or your arms from falling off.

If you're going to take MDMA, don't bother coming into class. I realize you were celebrating your engagement to your girlfriend last night, and I also realize you think you can be productive under its effects. Some people might be able to, but you, [specific person] CAN'T. It's stressful enough trying to put $2,000 worth of mics around a drum kit, and making sure all the cables are heading to the right places without needing to do everything three times because you've disrupted something that was already done!

Yes, the teacher can tell.

Zombie Apocalypse

It depends on the archetype.  I'd respond completely different to classic Romero-style slow zombies than I would to 28 Days Later style rage zombies.

Against slow zombies, I'd prefer some tough clothing (at least leather jacket at all times, and full-body suit of motorcycle gear when I expect trouble), a good melee weapon, and open ground.  The real danger in a Romero-style scenario is getting trapped.  The only thing they can do is outnumber you, and that only means anything if you hole yourself into a situation where the only escape is through the horde.  Stay mobile and avoid congested areas where you can be ambushed.  You can easily outmaneuver them and whittle away at their numbers.  If enough people do this, it shouldn't take long to put down even a large outbreak.  If you need to rest, choose a place with more than one exit, and arrange in advance for a diversion to clear your escape.

In a fast zombie scenario, I wouldn't have much hope.  You would have to barricade yourself into shelter and just outlast them.  For the longest time, I had determined that I wouldn't even try if something like this happened.  Then a friend of mine made some really good points about how different pockets of survivors barricaded into shelters somewhat near each other could coordinate to make good things happen.  Shelters take turns drawing all the zombies to them, while the others do whatever they need to do in relative safety.  A lot of stuff could be done like this.  Or you could even just run the buggers back and forth in their insatiable rage stupor until they collapse.

Of course, all plans assume that people don't make really stupid mistakes or malicious decisions, which is how things always go wrong in the movies anyway.

Oh, okay.  I was going to say: "That's really cool!"  But now I won't.

I'm an Audio Engineering student. There's every chance I could start teaching others later, but for the moment my classmates have disillusioned me on that front.

In my opinion, 'Zombie' is quite a silly word unless it involves actual voodoo/hoodoo or similar.
So I prefer to call them 'undead' or 'walking dead'.

Too vague.  Of course, zombie is becoming too vague these days as well.
