My zombie survival plan (Solanum):
Grab rifle, revolver, and hatchet.
Make thermite and explosives.
Grab a fuel-efficient car, that hasn't been destroyed by looters/idiots. Attach metal to make a large bumper, hitting one zombie too hard could wreck the engine.
Begin meltdown of nuclear plant.
Drive off northeast, watch the nuclear sunset behind me.
Drive around in farmland until I find a fallout shelter. Doesn't matter if I find one or not, I'll still have fun rampaging.

My zombie survival plan (Rage virus, think 28 days later):
Grab rifle, revolver, and knife.

My zombie survival plan (Immortal zombies, like Dead Alive):
Grab hatchet and knife.
Make acids and incendiaries.
Grab a fuel-efficient car, that hasn't been destroyed by looters/idiots. Attach metal to make a large bumper, hitting one zombie too hard could wreck the engine.
Generally have fun being creative and blowing shit up until I find a fallout shelter.

(You may be wondering why the nuclear plant is of such importance. If I kill all the humans, no more zombies can be made. If all the zombies get their brains tumored to death, that's a bonus)

My Zombie Survival Strategy (Solanum, since that's the only true Zed):
Collect:
Bolt-Action rifle (Military grade, if I can't get my hands on that I'd take a .22(Still good at getting through human skulls))
Pistol (.357 Magnum)
Crowbar (Preferably Titanium)
As much non-perishable food as I can carry/access
As much medical supplies as I can carry/access
As much ammunition as I can carry/access
Kevlar covers for all limbs
Silencer, laser sights, and scopes for rifle
Silencer and laser sights for pistol

Proceed to Airship

Take off and fly away from the infested zone.

I've always wondered, if the type of zombie apocalypse ends up being the Voodoo kind, where they actually ARE posessed corpses, can living people be 'infected' by bites? or can you only become a zombie by being killed first then resurrected by the voodoo priest/elder god/alien brain-in-a-jar?

Voodoo zombies are not possessed. They are made using a very powerful, but non-fatal neurotoxin that destroys identity/higher reasoning.
They're more like animals than Zombies. They won't be trying to go after you unless you provoke them, and ordering to stop will make them stop.

How much of this do you actually have? or even know where to get for that matter? Do you know how to fly an airship?

Silencers are illegal in many places, and heavily regulated in others. It may be pretty hard to find some of the stuff you want, and some may not be too practical against zombies (Kevlar)

Wouldn't need Kevlar, leather armor used for motorcyclists should be good enough considering its meant to stop anything piercing the human body flying at some mph. I got bitten by dogs and didn't even feel teeth.

.22 is ok but you are better off finding .223 or 5.56x5.45mm cause they got more oomph and were built for piercing. The book is good at statistics but really, i rather trust a .22 hornet to kill stuff than .22

.357 is best pistol for killshots, if you want still the same power but lots of bullets look for .357SIG pistols.

Actually, the covers are meant to stop things like knives and guard dogs. While leather armor might work too, I dunno.

So they would be useful in keeping me uninfected.

The .357SIG does look like a better idea for a pistol option, much better than a regular .357.

On .223 or 5.45mm, they may be built to pierce, but ammunition is not quite as widely available. After all, what self-respecting gunshop wouldn't stock .22 rounds? Anyways, I said I would prefer a military-grade rifle before going to .22.

My zombie apocalypse plan:

1. Go get bitten.

I like to be on the winning side, and it saves a lot of time and effort that way.

Here in india, we burn our dead.

...Then pour the infected ashes into the Ganges, not only infection all those who bath there and all land using it for irrigation, but also creating Zombie Dolphins ;)
I'm sorry, but what sort of monsterous super-virus can stay alive after being burnt to ashes? (Ah, besides mad-cow disease, but I don't think India will ever have a problem with a disease contracted by eating cows.)

Kuru just came to mind, but prions tend to fail in the immolation immunity department  :P

You can also use the cheaper and more common .38 rounds in a .357 revolver.  There is also a revolver (Taurus Judge) that can fire .45 or 410 shot/slug shells.

In a zombie apocalypse scenario, ammunition availability may be more important than effectiveness when nearly any bullet penetrates the skull at short to medium ranges.

then stay away from revolver rounds then, and the Taurus is a .45LongColt or .45Colt so thats even more rare ammo than .45ACP

However, 410 shot and slugs are very common, its the second most common shell size after 12 gauge.
And .38 are not exactly rare, there is a lot of police surplus laying around.

The Apocalyptic Zombie-creating kind, of course :P

Don't think kevlar does much against knives. You'd want something a little more solid.

Against zombies, wetsuits is where it's at, though. Covers the whole body, and there's no chance human nails or teeth will ever get through it. Might want to add a leather jacket so you don't look ridiculous, though.

I'd prefer to go with a gun that uses .22 rounds, sure they're crappy but they'll penetrate a zombie's skull up close and the ammo for it is easy to find.
