is exactly what I end up doing. I only have the vanilla version, and I usually get bored with loooong research times, plus I usually prefer one massive fortressbase in strategy games, but you can't really do that in SOTS.

But dreadnought fleets are quite impressive.

There's only really one annoying thing about the game: Research trees are partially randomized for every match. It's nuts, sometimes you get high-powered lasers right off the bat, sometimes emitters (Lightning guns), sometimes ballistics...
