If you're christian, then his version of infierno is nothing but a fanfic.
I think that also applies if you're not christian.

You're right, it's just a fanfic in general.

I'm not of the opinion that mortal sin exists given that all sin is mortal. It's not really needed as an additional word.

Yeah, sorry, I just realized he's going way back.

Then you end up in the first circle of hell.
Pardon me if I'm wrong, but Limbo was idealized by Dante. If you're christian, then his version of infierno is nothing but a fanfic.

Going through Revelations, The unbelievers are cast into the lake of burning sulfur with all the wicked.

And this is why I'm an atheist. Religion is just too much of a pain in the arse. That, and the universe is just too fucking hostile to have been created by a benevolent god. Supernovas, black holes, pulsars, molecular clouds and all that jazz.

Right. And in the Inferno its a solid block of ice.

The Inferno is just Christian porn in its earliest form :P

And personally, the idea of an invisible gravity well that could suck your whole planet into it and crush it to the size of a few molecules....that's significantly more horrifying to me than Hell. God is a professional. He knows how to make things really scary.

Pantheism is better, and it's technically impossible to disprove, it'd be like trying to disprove all of existence :P

Meh, I'd prefer to pay homage to the Dread God Finagle and his Mad Prophet Murphy than anything else. (Oh man, I've read Ringworld and various related materials one too many times. :P )

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
