Pretty sure that will do more damage to your teeth than prevent?

*shrug*

I'm an obedient daughter, and apparently because they used to proscribe 3x/day and only stopped doing that because people are lazy, this is what I have to do.

Why the hell would any sane parent be ordering their child of over 20 years of age to brush their teeth a specific number of times per day, especially such a high number? That seems hideously overbearing.

And yeah, overbrushing can damage your gums, at least. Be careful?

Okau. Just making sure you understand that you are an adult as much as she is.

Don't know about "as much as she is", but yeah, if a parent feels the need to order their children around like that at that age, then there's something seriously wrong with someone or something.

Er, I think you may both be over analyzing this. First of all, brushing your teeth 3 times a day isn't a bad thing; dentists will very often, especially if you have braces or similar, instruct you to brush your teeth after every meal (or in other words, at least 3 times a day). Secondly, it isn't like it really matters as far as inconveniencing anyone, as after it becomes a habit, brushing 3 times a day wouldn't be much more difficult than brushing once a day (or even, for that matter, much more than not brushing at all).

Nah, I mean that she's made it clear that pretty much all of my personal habits are unacceptable.

She did, of course, warn me about being butch or getting pudgy in early elementary school, back when I was so thin that other people's mothers thought I was literally being starved, haha.

It's not the teeth brushing thing. I in particular have no say in the considering I don't really take well care of my teeth. What I'm trying to press is how her mother is trying to push her into those tooth habits with such specific influence that almost treats Vector as a child, which I would have to say by what I've seen, Vector is a grown woman now.

No offense meant to you, Vector, but she sounds like a bitch.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

Brushing them twice a day for 4-5 minutes each and didn't have a single hole that far.

She'll understand eventually that I'm not going to crash and die just because I don't necessarily prioritize healthy habits and "walking around in nature" at this age.

Of course, the guilt is pretty much constant and every time I bring up a personal problem she says it's because I don't exercise enough, drink enough water, sleep enough, eat well enough, spend enough time off the computer, eat too much fat, eat too much salt, eat too much sugar, don't eat enough protein, don't eat enough fruits and vegetables, forgot to take my (3 or 4) vitamins, or didn't "just get out there" that day, depending on which things I didn't perfectly check off the list.  Of course, these "little things to make sure I'm healthy" are also the reasons why I never stop being stressed, as opposed to the fact that there's pretty much no one in the real world I can talk to about anything, whether it's bothering me or making me happy.

I'm pretty tired of her giving me weight-loss books too, haha.

But oh well.  There's not much I can really do right now.  At least I'm losing weight, which will keep her out of my hair for a while.

Uhm, aren't you quite skinny?

Also there isn't much you can do about the "you're doing it wrong"-mentality of parents.
I stopped sharing my live with them, as much as possible, since that only invites such unpleasant occurences.

Vector, she sounds like my ex-g/f's mother. The weight thing for a start, my ex was really skinny as a teen, but got called fat by her mum all the time. Also she had a wierd tooth-brushing thing. Brushed her teeth so hard that she damaged them. She still does, I don't know what she does but after a few days her toothbrushes look like mine after > months of use. She only brushed twice per day too.

BTW she moved back to her parents' place 1 year ago, now she's screaming that it's like being a teenager all over again. So, whatever you do, do not move back home. They will still think of you as if you are 12 years old.
