you don't need to mess around with their modem, you can do it locally on your computer. Open your network adapter properties, where you can change the IP address, and you should find a field where you can put a primary and secondary DNS server.

put 8.8.8.8 as the primary, and 8.8.4.4 as the secondary.

I just did that and it doesn't seem to be helping.
