But yeah, I'm kinda wary about them myself. They don't make me especially nervous and flustered but I'm always kind of shocked to get one. I am a little nervous about sending them though, just because I don't expect anyone is particularly eager to hear from me.

Grah. I am very sick of the blanket statement oft repeated to new writers "excise adverbs." Yeah, of course you can overuse them but adverbs are a perfectly acceptable way to write. Boring adverbs are no more of a problem than boring verbs or nouns. Good writing is good writing because it uses the language well. Completely removing a part of speech (that is much more varied than just describing the way the verb is performed, I know, shocker!) is stupid and only encourages a binary mindset that is damaging to artistry.

e: For example! In the sentence "Tomorrow I've got to meet Dan." Tomorrow is an adverb. Oh my, adverbs are terrible indeed. Such a scourge must be squashed lest it envelop the whole of prose cascading our society into an era of illiteracy.

I've never heard that, but I'm not a writer.  It sounds to me like new writers often overuse adverbs, so the advice should probably be read as "use adverbs wisely, not with every single verb", not "nevar use teh adverb!"
