The problem with that is, he already knows I'm going to hide it from him(really, at this point, who the hell wouldn't?) so he's just going to force me to hand it over to him, on threat of eviction.

Now I know it doesn't work like this, but... What legitimate grounds does he have for demanding them in the first place? Couldn't you just end the argument by asking for he's reasoning?

Sorry, just my overwhelming sense of logic kicking in, I know some people do not act logically, but I can make no other sense of your statement.

Quick question. What are the laws where you live on recording conversations?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

How many video cameras and microphones do you think it would be legal to hide in somebodies apartment before I should be worried? Also, do phone taps count?

The only thing that even comes close to reasonable is that he thinks I owe him money because previously he was paying me to put job applications for him along with mine, as well as write them down, but I lost the list of records while cleaning. And by cleaning, I mean I threw it out because he hadn't paid me in several weeks and had thrown a tantrum about how I smell and my room is a total fucking pigstry, including the now-usual eviction threats. Which is bullshit, since I really did put in actual applications in for him(what he's doing is just saying he did), and he got a callback on at least one(but screwed up royally on just the call).

There are laws on restricting recording conversations? Well fuck...
Not that the Bush administration paid any attention to them ::).

Why? I dunno, and I don't have anything covert to record with anyhow.

Unless you're law enforcement and you have a specific warrant to do so... zero.

Hmm, that does put some what of a dint in my plans. Now I need to go to the trouble of recording several important police members in order to black mail them later if I'm caught. Then again, it would be useful to have them under my evil command...

Well, if you can get some sort of cheap microphone or something and just keep it in your backpack or similar container, running, it might not be a bad idea. More evidence and all that, especially if you can get him threatening to evict you if you don't let him commit a crime (which is why, in this scenario, you'd hide the papers and when he calls you on it and starts the shitstorm, you immediately back down, apologize, and give them to him, having gotten what amounts to a taped confession). The problem is that, depending on where you live, it's illegal to record somebody without their consent. Some places only require that one person in a conversation know, however, and others still don't have any laws regarding that.

You can record your own conversations in any transaction. My dad keeps one when he deals with managers from stores so he isn't ripped off later

If you can buy a shirt that says "This call is being recorded for training and quality purposes" and wear it while recording him, so much the better.

Recording without someone's consent for legal purposes is on a state by state basis. Some states don't require their consent, some do. If he tries that route, he needs to check his state's statutes so he knows what he can and can't do with that recording.

Deceased Crab starts a Lets Play on Actraiser, alright, cool.

He then mentions the other games in the series which I loved. Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, soil Blazer, all good games.

 He says they suck.

 Especially Terranigma.

 Your days are limited, Crab.
