The Dept. of Labor. Again.

My appointment was at 11:00AM. I didn't get called in until almost 1:00PM. And then I get told I have to do those 40 hours of job searching a week for three weeks, again. Oh sure, it's not as though I was scraping the bottom of the barrel in trying to find places to apply for last time, let alone how much the job market has changed since then(note: it hasn't).

Still hoping for that Sam's Club job, which'll really save my ass on this.

I accidently navigated from my anime site to Facebook, losing like 30 minutes of downloading time in one fell swoop.  Now the site is doing something weird and won't let me view the site again, sigh.

Also raging about slow internet.  It isn't any slower than normal, but would be awfully hard to be any slower than normal.

So. That paper I was talking about. It wasn't due the day after I wrote it. It wasn't due this week, and it isn't due next. The first draft isn't even due untill after winter break.

My Steam Account has been locked.

And I  think I know why. A while ago, I had some troubles with a hacker/phisher who managed to get me to click on a link by hacking into my friends steam account. As soon as I realized, I changed my e-mail address and password, and all was well.

I think Steam saw those two events happening right next to each other, and jumped to the conclusion that both had been changed by the hacker, not by me.


So, bugger. This is made worse by the fact that I lost my debit card that was used for nearly all my purchases, and the meatspace copy I had of HL2 is gone as well. So I have next to know way of reclaiming my account.

I think you can contact Steam Support by email and explain the situation to them. They may unlock your account.

Things that made me rage? The horrible feeling of powerlessness that I get when the computer is dying. Makes me feel so weak.

Feeling ya. Mobo looks to have hit its final feeble breaths last night. At POST, system either randomly:

A. Shuts down and will not power on until the power strip itself has been recycled.
B. Powers up and does nothing.
C. Powers up and reports CMOS data having changed and forces a BIOS config.
D. Starts to boot Windows, then goes to A.
E. Goes to the option to boot into Safe Mode.

For the past week or so, I could boot into Safe Mode, then restart the computer and it would load properly, at least until the system was shut down and then the problem would start again. As long as it stayed powered on, it was OK. Unfortunately, our power lines are crap, and we've lost power each day for the past two days. As of last night, the Safe Mode boot trick ceased working.

Thought it might be the CMOS battery, switched it out with a spare. No dice.

Now I'm looking at mobos, and realizing that it's been so long since I upgraded that if I get a new mobo, I'm gonna need a new CPU and new RAM. Which I really can't afford. Boo. Hiss.

Knowing my PC is fucking up doesn't make me rage, it fills me with this sick sense of dread that I don't have the money to fix whatever tangle of problems there could be.

What fills me with rage is the fact that I have full comprehension of Hebrew letters and vowels. But absolutely no comprehension of Hebrew words.

I only started learning because I wanted to read the Tanakh. NOW LOOK WHERE I'M AT!

Every time I post/vote in a poll on this computer, it gives me an error page, meaning I must reload it.
