If I prevent Jobs from ever meeting Woz, then it's entirely possible that your iPod touch will be an open-source piece of hardware that you built yourself from a kit.

Bah, had to buy a new copy of Kingdom Hearts, to replace the one I let my sister borrow. Now I'm broke. >:(

Why build one when you can buy it built, right... right?

This last weekend was our anniversary (we got married on Halloween 2002).

We were supposed to have a nice, romantic weekend all to ourselves.  We were taking a quick overnight trip to the same hotel we spent our honeymoon at.  Night on the town.  Enjoy the Halloween festivities - go to a haunted house, scary movie, something like that.  Romantic dinner.  Good stuff.

I was really looking forward to a break from all the work-related stress lately.  My wife was thrilled to actually get my undivided attention for the entire weekend.

Friday, while hanging a metric crapton of access points for our new HIS system, I threw my back out.

I spent basically the entire weekend immobilized.  Could barely walk.

Needless to say, our plans were shot.  Didn't go anywhere fancy, didn't do anything terribly romantic.

On the bright side, today is the go-live date for our HIS system.  No more agonizing, no more scrambling to get things done, no more long hours of prep-work.  For better or for worse, we're out of time.  So things should start slowing down now...  Hopefully.

While looking through my folders for old things to delete, again, I saw I still had the demo for The Settlers V: Heritage of Kings. I also saw that it alone was over 5GB in size. For a demo. The full install for VI: Rise of an Empire isn't even that big. So I went to uninstall it.

First, it starts complaining that my system was awaiting restart and therefore unstable. I don't know why, the only thing that was "awaiting restart" was Steam, which had just updated itself, and only needed to restart itself(which wasn't even really neccessary). Then, during the uninstall process, I notice my internet connection dropped. Removing and plugging back in the adapter didn't work(it usually does), and Windows D&R didn't help(not like it ever does ::)). So I had to restart my computer, upon which I get a message that a device driver was not properly installed(a Microsoft ISATAP Adapter, listed under the network devices), something I don't know what it was, but at least my internet isn't permenantly screwed.

You know what, Ubisoft, you can go to hell.

Today my mum rang me again and told me she'd "forgiven" me and I could come home... It pisses me off that she still thinks that's an option!

Yes I'm whining about League of Legends again.  I won't bother actually writing it out, I should have been in bed three hours ago for my interview in about... nine hours.

The lunch "lines" at my school are a sight to behold, in that they're amorpheous blobs where the stupid people try to slip past everyone else and scream like kindergardeners if they can't. It's fucking awful, and it's every day.

Sounds like every lunch line ever in China. Seriously, I was in the university chow hall at ZJU, there were five "stations" and about 700 students, and you'd have thought they were in the New York Stock Exchange, yelling at the top of their lungs and waving their lunch tickets like they had a 1,000 shares of pork bellies to unload.

It was awesome.

Damn, all the more reason to finally get this Linux thing done.

Anyway, here's the current roadblock:
# pacman -Syy
:: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed to update core (no servers configured for repository)
error: failed to blah, blah, blah, whatever, I think I actually know how to solve this one
error: failed to synchronize any databases

Yeah, it was easy.
All hail the mighty power of the # and del keys.

Grah!
Damned -Syu taking forever.
This is worse than wrangling with the installation and network setup.
At least those gave me something to do.
