Sure, I'll free from my mortal bonds in a few hours, seeing as there's 4 zombies around me and I have no AP left

I haven't played that in a while, but I would probably start up again if there were a bunch of B12ers on board.

I'll try it if we have a group.

I was sort of the defacto leader of the bay12 Die2Nite group back in the day (or one of the bigger ones, anyways) until I dropped out.

But I dropped out for a reason.

I can NOT live on that schedule, and the mods are, last I checked, still ABSOLUTE ASSHOLES, so I refuse to deal with them. It's not even a general MotionTwin thing - I still happily play their other games, but the mods for Die2Nite are just... bleh, just terrible.

I really don't want to relive any of that stuff. I'll just end up pissed. But I'll review the easy bits:
You are not allowed to look at the french site, since they get updates before we do.
There is a suggestions area where you can suggest ideas for things you'd like to see in the game.

I got banned, TWICE, for making a suggestion that was a french feature version (which I didn't know, because I followed the rules and studiously avoided looking at the french version. And I can't read french anyway), and got banned a third time for making a joke they construed as a reference to the french version. Also, they wouldn't actually TELL me what I got banned for, or ask me what was going on, or care in the least, until someone else they liked intervened on my behalf and they lifted the ban.

So yeah. Not a fan of their moderation policies, which are basically "We won't tell you the rules, but if you break one you'll be insta-banned and we still won't tell you why."

Fun times.

They've got other "hidden rules" as well, last time I looked in, that people were getting banned for. But its impossible to know what they are, or if its just the whims of a mod and hidden rules is an excuse.

Ignorance of the law is no defense eh? Sounds like a MUD crew gone berzerk with power and a nicer looking game.

DF related for once:

>Spend 4 hours genning worlds to find a single 4x4 embark with a river and surface-level sedimentary layer.
>Play for a year, enjoy the spot.
>Save, go to class.
>Come back, DF: "Trololol savewhatsave? Worldwhatworld?"

Huh. I don't think I've ever had DF corrupt a save file on me.

Why don't they want you to look at the french site?
French site gets updated before the rest of the world, thus if you look at the French site you know what is going to happen next and can plan for it. For example (Given that I have never played) you are a guy who has found that water augmented weaponry has served you well against 99% of creatures you have faced, but they are planning on releasing a set of creatures strong against water, and weak against lightning. So either;
A. You look at the French site, know this is coming, and get a good weapon for minimal cost before everybody is after them.
B. You don't look and have to compete with everybody else after the relevant weaponry.

Point is that it gives an unfair and unintended response to the community. Ammo will become more available? Sell current ammo and rebuy it when it is going cheap. Health packs about to become rarer? Buy all you can and sell them later.

As for "Hidden rules", that is just about as dumb as it gets when moderating a forum, or anything that can be seen as a form of policing. If people can't do something, the most important thing to do is to let people know it is against the rules, and then trying to enforce it comes second.
