Since our connection suddenly decided to not work for about 24 hours, I missed two lifesteams and the new mlp episode yesterday. And my parents won't be leaving the house today, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to watch it. And by then the whole internet will be filled with spoilers. Suddenly I'm almost happy that mlp threads are forbidden here.

I JUST PUT THESE BATTERIES IN 5 SECONDS AGO THEY ARE NOT RUNNING OUT
Xbox controller and rechargable batteries.

after playing half a minute:

*in the middle of a fight*
Xbox controller disconnected!

GRAHHHH!
Wired controllers are always better.

And an ethernet cable is always better than a wireless connection (even if you have to drill three holes and crawl around in your basement crawlspace [mounds of dirt littered with empty whiskey bottles dating back to when it was originally constructed and dozens of those giant cave crickets] to run it beneath most of your house).

Freaking satellite internet.

Satellite internet + Everquest + Everquest Double Experience Weekend + Random 30 second lag spike = Me Dead and Furious.

I do not hate many things in this world more than satellite internet.  And it's being even worse than normal.  Just when I need it to work most!

I didn't know people played MMOs on Sattelite Internet, everyone I've asked said it didn't work.

I didn't know people played MMOs on Sattelite Internet, everyone I've asked said it didn't work.

No one said it was a good idea.  I've successfully played Everquest and World of Warcraft on satellite internet.  WoW plays badly, but it can be done.

Everquest was originally designed when dial up was the norm, and so uses very little bandwidth and is quite tolerant of high latency.  Everquest is actually surprisingly playable on it.

The problem here is that Hughes is terrible on top of being a satellite internet service.  For the past few weeks, it's been randomly crapping out for 15-30 without me going linkdead.  I can't explain it.  But, of course, this being Everquest, the enemies can kill you in less than 10 seconds if you're not doing something to decrease incoming damage or heal yourself.

Oh, and let's not forget the little gem that unlike WoW you lose experience in Everquest when you die.  So not only am I not getting my double experience, I'm wasting time running back to my body and undoing the last few minutes' work at the least.

All of this because the internet link randomly decided that, nah, I'm gonna wait half a minute before I transmit that last keypress.

I just went 4 days without internet. No warning, no idea why, just suddenly four days without it. I wouldn't be so annoyed by this if I had known about it, but this just came out of nowhere. And I still need to watch the mlp episode I missed. At least we had someone look after th problem now, so it should be fixed.

Client Network setups.

They're a hideous, undulating mass of user accounts, confused permissions, headless servers, ambiguous computer names and users who, in all fairness, have no need to know what the hell any of this is. And that's before there's any actual problems with the database scripts. Yyyeeearrrrrrrggggghhhhh.

Is your class all console based, too? That's causing most of my JAVARAEG. I freaking hate the console.

:O

But the console is love. The console is warmth. The console is efficiency, and desire, and primal action.

How can a person possible hate the console?

...Maybe we're talking about different things though, because I don't remember Java have anything to do with the console.

You'd be doomed in my class then, MZ. Unless Java has a different console then routers.

I'm talking about the DOS-style command prompt. cmd. (Maybe I used the wrong term to refer to it?)
