I'm not 100% sure, but I think that a heavy armor build where you do nothing but punch things is totally viable. That sounds fun. I'm doing that now.

I go into TF2. Enter my favorite server, there are about nine MLP avatars, and a spray on the battlements. I quit right then and there.
Go to another server, see less MLP avatars(but they're still there), but more sprays.
Repeat ad nauseam.

Quite apart from that, the one person in a crowded building who keeps shouting is going to be a lot more noticable than the fifty that don't. For the most part, we keep to our own communities for the stuff that really pisses people off (for some reason). Getting angry over avatars and sprays seems like a bit much; do they bother you more than the racist, sexist and homophobic sprays that seem to be in half the servers of every source game? Do they bother you more than the practically omnipresent pron sprays?



On a recurring note: People who walk in groups and spread out to fill the entire corridor/sidewalk/etc., and then walk at a glacially slow pace. Especially when the on a pedestrian bridge over a busy road. GRAH.

Honestly, I hate it because even though I want to avoid it, avoiding it is impossible. And I want to avoid it because I don't want to watch the show. The community around it is just so...

I keep wondering how MLP shares a fanbase with TF2. It really confuses me.

Yeah. MLP fanbase gets a little zealous sometimes. And some of the really... fringe... sections of the community can be really out there. (*shudder*). But the rest of the fanbase isn't so bad, as long as you can tune out their shouting.

As to the show itself? Why do you want to avoid it so badly? It's not as sugary as you might think it would be. (the intro gave me diabetes once though). (I got better.) I have only seen 1 episode, and I didn't find it as amazing as many people claim it is, but the art was pretty good, and like I said, it wasn't so sugary as to be nauseating. I wouldn't watch another one on my own though.

Might be more of a CS:S thing. Odds are that you'll see at least one of the four categories in every match, even on the fairly well-mannered and moderated servers. TF2 trends more toward joke sprays, IIRC.

I guess what I'm really saying is that I don't understand why people react so negatively to ponies in particular, as there are quite a few things that are just as omnipresent in internet culture. And again, I do understand that having a thread spammed with any sort of content is annoying, but avatars and sprays ingame? Just don't look at them, eh?


Weather. Why does the town I'm going to uni at have such crappy weather? Right now it is snowing hard, but pretty much everywhere more than a few miles outside of town is just cloudy or sunny. Sometimes I feel as if I could stand on the edge of town and watch rain cut off as it leaves our airspace.

So we have this freshmen concert this Thursday, nothing special, every college had theirs (there was a big joint one a while ago) so the turn has come to us, don't like the singer personally so I never planned to go. However there is an exam the morning after, so instead of moving the concert one day (to Friday which is much more appropriate I think) they have moved the exams to next week, next week is my birthday and I wanted to spend four days home to just recharge properly before the next big wave of exams which is in two weeks. This means that I have an exam on next Friday which will make me stay here two more days, and I really DO NOT WANT THAT!

Oh, fucking excellent... You know, the CMPD just reinstated the use of tasers after that boy at a Food Lion was killed by one and at least he was angry and possibly violent. North Carolina just isn't doing very well in the taser department.

It's because the pony thing is relatively new so it's still at the front of the cultural consciousness. People get angry and annoyed at whatever is particularly popular at the moment and right now it's MLP. Although, I gotta admit I'm not really fond of the fanbase either.

My only problem with the fanbase is the ripping parts out of the show and turning them into memes.

"20% cooler" was an awesome joke in the show. Now it's gone the same way "the cake is a lie" did: spammed into the ground.

That's the internet for you, though. Especially the parts of the internet that seem to have gotten on with MLP the most. Sometimes I'm convinced that a substantial number of the fans aren't really that interested in the show and prefer the fan-content that has popped up around it.

Anyway, in another six months I'm sure there'll be something else to drive the meme generator.
