Which will take all of 15 seconds after an ISP starts blacklisting sites on governmental orders. It will take time for it to reach the Supreme Court, but I imagine there will be a temporary block placed upon it once it gets challenged, which will never be lifted once the Supreme Court, as previously established, shoots it in the face.

Hell, I'd even expect Justice Scalia to vote against it. Scalia.

On the plus side, they are using more accurate acronyms. E-PARASITE is more fitting than PROTECT-IP and much more than the PATRIOT act was. Considering that this bill is intended to benefit parasites.

Minor rage, boss announces mandatory weekend overtime 30 minutes before time to go Friday afternoon.  The cause of the mandatory overtime is because we are not getting our work done quickly enough.  We are not getting our work done quickly enough because we spend more than half of our time waiting for the system to do it's thing.  Seriously, I have one of those el-cheapo sports watches with a stopwatch on it, I timed it.  After every 17 seconds of doing work we spend 35 seconds idle waiting for our computers and network to catch up to what we just did, because for some reason it has to sort through 18000(and the number increases daily) "documents" every time we try to upload one.

It is possible to upload up to 30 at a time in the system, in fact, the system itself, and the scanners seem built for that,  and we would only have to deal with the delay once for those 30 in that case.  But we have been specifically ordered NOT to do that.

I have a new(or old, depending how you look at it) job already lined up, but they still need 3 weeks to a month of site prep before I can begin working there.  So I guess I just have to continue to deal with it.  It is frustrating being so close, yet so far from being out of there though, every time the phone rings my heart jumps in hope.

Ugh... you'd think so many giant businesses would be able to afford technology that is less than 10 years old.  They lose so much money to being outdated, and frustrate the hell out of their employees.  I'm right there with you.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a deal where your boss was simply told by corporate to increase productivity, even though he hasn't been given any sort of budget to be able to do anything.

I would think that being told by higher ups to "increase productivity" is code for "fire the people you think work least, then give their work to the ones who you think work most without changing anything else".

Tv Tropes is awesome, but you should never underestimate it's power to take up a fuckload of your time.

EDIT: I didn't see that "doesn't" the first time through. I guess that kind of changes my tone to be defensive, maybe? Or at least it makes less sense this way.

I used to think it was awesome, until CrazyGoggs, Patron Saint of the Internet, opened my eyes with This Troper.

My boss is corporate(the one that mandated overtime anyway).  It's the headquarters, and as far as I can tell he's the owner.  Not a huge company though.  Something like 100 employees here, 50 in texas, 10 or so in India, and something like 30 in some California location.

I fucking hate Costume Stores, partly because it discourages making your own costume which is one of the best fucking things you do on halloween. "Oh you want to dress up like spiderman? Give us 40$ and we'll give you a red and blue dress and a red mask with two holes punched in it."

Also, fuck people who give out healthy stuff to kids.
