The House of Reps is full of idiots with lobbyists. That is the only way to describe how this thing is still alive.

My computer keeps beeping at me because one of the fans isn't working-*BEEP* SHUT UP COMPUTER I DID NOT BUILD YOU JUST SO YOU COULD BITCH AT ME 24/7.
If you built it, why did you include Annoying Beeping Sounds 2011?
So it can warn him in case the fan breaks down?

In the case of a hardware breakdown the little beeper can make a specific sequence of beeps that tell me what part of my computer is fucked in lieu of a desktop.

However, another of it's features is that it beeps whenever a part fails while the computer is running, and my fan can't decide weather it wants to live or die, causing it to fail multiple times, causing multiple beeps.
*BEEP*

I just got some spam message from EA about how I need Origin to play Battlefield 3.
I've never heard of Battlefield 3. I've never bought anything from EA's store.
Why are you spamming me? How did you get my email?

The icing is that I went to opt out of whatever led to this landing in my inbox, and there's no way to.
Instead there's this:
Quote
This is a transactional message which has been sent to you by EA.
If you have opted out of marketing communications this will be the only email you receive

What the hell is a transactional message and how is it different from a marketing communication? I'm pretty sure those words mean the same thing!
Especially since I never bought anything from you guys aaaargh

Basically if you've ever registered anything with EA, they're treating you like you're already an Origins user. Doesn't matter if you bought Spore or C&C Red Alert, EA keeps records as thoroughly as the freaking IRS.

Even if I was an Origins user I'd be mad about getting spam from them that you apparently can't opt out of. Is there actually no rule against that? I always sort of assumed there was for legitimate companies, but I guess I don't register for enough terrible things to know for sure.

A lesson I learned as a pedestrian.  You vs a car,  The car is more than 10 times your weight and able to move at a much higher rate of speed than you, and requires more room to stop than you.

Pedestrians legally have the right of way most of the time, but realistically pedestrians NEVER have the right of way.  All the legality in the world just means your immediate family gets a free win in a really expensive lawsuit while you are a smear in the road with a small paper memorial to you built on the side of the road until next time the city mows the grass.   Sad but it's the truth.

Oh for fuck's sake.

A couple months ago my wife was meeting Hiro at the bus stop after school.  He'd fallen asleep and she had to go wake him up.  As she was stepping back off the bus, she fell and sprained both ankles, one severely, and broke three bones in the other foot.

Today we got a letter from my employer's insurance.  They refuse to pay for it.  They want us to fill out an accident report and have the school pay for it.

So not only is this giant multi-national corporation refusing to pay its employees properly... it's also trying to offload costs onto my child's severely underfunded school for something that wasn't in any way their fault.

There are so many things I want to do right now that I'd regret pretty quickly...

I also learned today that Obama has appointed one of Monsanto's top executives and legal enforcers as "senior advisor to the commissioner of the FDA."  Fuck that.  Fuck that sooooo much.

If you're going to make a bill, you should see what the people who know what they are talking about have to say about it. Not completely ignore them and expect your massive trainwreck of a bill to work anyway.
Fuck off you idiot, and let the people who aren't going to try and hammer the triangle into the square hole until the hole is smashed into a triangular shape do their jobs!
