Every time I watch the Roast of Donald Trump and it gets to "The Situation"'s monologue I want to go postal that he was allowed to write his own material. THIS MAN IS NOT FUNNY! HE RUINS THE REST OF THE SHOW! MY ENJOYMENT OF THE EARLIER PARTS OF THE PROGRAM IS DIMMED BY THE KNOWLEDGE THAT HIS GOD-AWFUL JOKES ARE COMING UP!

Consider all the great jokes the real comedians are able to come up with on the spot, because he was allowed to write his own material.

I recently emailed my local Representative to the House about the American Jobs Act, and she sent me back a dismissive and condescending retort about how 'she knew better' and 'the last stimulus didn't work, so this one won't!'.

I responded with eighteen pages of statistics and venom and managed to fit in the words "you soulless cog", so we'll see how that goes.

Hopy shit, you are the best. Cripes, I thought I was good for getting 1 page of solid sarcasm for my Senator back in July.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Well, a large portion was taken up by reference material. Quotations, graphs, and charts. I probably only had five or six pages of text.

When you're seemingly the only liberal in your district, you have to make these things memorable.  :P

I'm pretty sure it was a form letter, but I made sure to deliver the response in person.

Mr The Seal God, would you mind posting up a copy of your letter here? Might be useful for others who don't have the time to research and get good pictures and stuff themselves.

I third that!
I wonder if the reply (if there is one) will be more about the soulless cog part or the stats and venom part, though.

My own brain. It's just ill-equipped to large handle logic structures. I'm probably jumping the shark on getting mopey about my capacity for C++, but good lord, my synapses are fried only after a few hours of trying to implement some basic stuff. Trying to get a randomly generated multiscripted array to print itself in a grid whose shape is defined by the parameters of the array itself is proving a hell of a lot harder than I thought it would. I think I screwed up by trying to generate shit with srand instead of just rand, it's given me unsigned integers that only show up later when I read the array.

Er, srand is for seeding the random number generator. You call srand(seedNum); to seed it with a value which the random number generator will use to create random numbers. rand(); actually generates the numbers. Think of the RNG as an alogirthm with 2 inputs: the seed and the number of times it has been run. srand(aNum); effectively resets the number of times and the seed value. rand(); returns a value from 0 to RAND_MAX; to get a number in another range, do a modulus operation. ie: rand() % 20 gives a random number from 0 to 19.

I would love to, but it contains quite a bit of information about where I live, who I am, who those near me are, and other sensitive information. Not that I don't trust you guys, but lurkers abound. I could post some of my sources though, if you like.
