This week has been full of rage for me. Start today off driving into the city to try and get my financial aid sorted out. When I get there, my adviser doesn't want to actually participate. Apparently that's normal for him, because when I tried to email him to set up the appointment last week he didn't respond for three days. I come in during his office hours, just barely catch him as he's going out to lunch and ask him why he never responded, and his excuse is that he didn't see any reason to respond since I didn't make any actual request. Apparently "I need to make an appointment with you, when are you available?" isn't a request that would normally prompt a response from him. Probably only agreed to a meeting because he wanted to get lunch. Today he said he doesn't have the time to work with me through this whole education plan the financial aid office wants. Really. You agree to a meeting, are informed of exactly what we will be discussing, and then don't think to set aside enough time to accomplish that task. I finally convince him to sign a copy of the document I had submitted last year and put a new date on, but first I had to explain to the guy behind the desk, four fucking times, why I needed a copy of it, because apparently I can't get access to my own goddamn paperwork unless another staff member needs it.
So after getting his damn signature on a copy of a document where I literally only crossed out a couple lines with highlighter and wrote in new dates, the fuckhead behind the desk agrees that this will work. All this fucking running around, just for a signature. And of course I had to do it for them. They couldn't just ask him if the document I had written was acceptable and have him sign it. That's literally all I did, except I can think of no good reason i should have to drive 40 miles down icy mountain roads on a Monday at 8am to do this for them, when they both fucking work there, not 100 yards apart. If I had classes anyway, this wouldn't be a big thing, but I don't, because just shy of the start of last semester the financial aid office sent me an email that started a wild goose chase for one document after another and another that hasn't ended yet, after I had personally come in and asked them the week before if there was anything they still needed. So no financial aid means I can't afford to attend obviously. Its not like I live in a 180 square foot shack in the middle of nowhere without plumbing, electricity, or insulation because I'm a goddamn eccentric Californian millionaire trying to "get in touch with nature." I fucking live here because its the best my family can afford without surrendering my parents' dream of keeping, riding and breeding horses, because the last job I got an interview for the employer called me not half an hour prior to my interview time to inform me they'd hired somebody else, because my brother and his girlfriend, who have their own goddamn house and jobs can't balance their budget properly and have to beg us for cash, I even gave them a chip of my financial aid to fix their car, they swore to pay me back and now refuse to. Because the Veteran's Administration waited five years to even consider either paying for my father's medical expenses after his injury, forcing us to buy private health insurance their system is supposed to provide, or pay for his student loans for the change of career from navy electrical technician to nurse because the navy discharged him, which forced us to take on the debt for his student loans. And then they only agreed to stop fucking with him because he went to the governor and threatened to make another scandal out of it.
So I get sent on a hunt for a goose that's already dead because they're hoping ill cave and crack open my super secret stash and pay out of pocket.
They won't accept an unofficial transcript from the last university, even temporarily while I have the transcripts sent, so now I'm fucking stalled on that. Of course it'll take "three to five business days" for the first college to acknowledge the request, "three to five business days" for them to send it out "three to five business days" for the post office to move it, and "three to five business days" for this college to acknowledge they got it and move on so I can wait "three to five business days" for them to send me an email asking for the next piece of paper they can't get their hands on because apparently nobody but me has a fucking clue what a fax machine is.
