My brother plans to spend 3000 dollars on his new computer.

I built that machine, except better, for about 1/2 that cost. But then again I'm not wasting money on things like water cooling and "internal lighting."

But it's their ULTIMATE Level 4 PC build!

Sounds like he went for the most flashy and most awesome thing then.

How old IS your brother? Just wondering, though maybe an inappropriate question.
Only inappropriate if you add a winky-smiley.

I wasn't even trying to do anything inappropriate or even thinking that, come on. I just thought maybe inappropriate as in private, I dunno.

Also, how does one hand test RAM?

You typically install the ram to the machine and run MEMTEST software on it. I don't know how you test RAM outside of your machine.

;) just so this can be inappropriate.

Seriously though, he's blowing $3k on a computer and it only has an Nvidia 780 in it? Could ditch the water cooling and go up to a 970 or higher, easily.

I am starting to get fede up with my supervisor giving me vagueand misleading instructions. This morning she asks me to look through the catering contracts to see if there were any that need setting up, without telling me where the contracts were(luckily I already knew). There's only one and that was mostly taken care of. Then she gets on me about how there was another one to set up, only the details were in an email to the manager that wasn't inside the folder with the contracts. Since I don't normally go through my boss' email, even printed ones, how am I supposed to figure that one out?

It does not help that, because of having two days off for Thanksgiving, I cannot pay rent this month. Nor does it help that everyone is being required to bring in two dozen cookies next week for some Christmas thing.

Why is my company making me watch 9(!) videos on hazmat shipping, plus quizzes after each video? I don't do hazmat. I have no intention of doing hazmat. I do not have the proper permits for hazmat. There is no point in making me learn about this stuff.

Basically! The thing he went for most was the lifetime warranty. I said, "For real? You really think you'll ever need to replace these parts except with superior ones?" I showed him a similar build for around 500 dollars and he just blew it off.

He's 21 years old. He's a very intelligent dude, but when it comes to computers I know he has no idea what he's talking about.

I'm going to do my best to keep him away from this (prolly gonna show him some of these posts by people who also know what's what), he doesn't need to spend this much money to have a great PC.

With an electron microscope and a lot of free time.

This kills the RAM, though.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Apparently the university I want to transfer to is only going to take 18 hours of my Associates degree.

My anger is immense and rapidly turning to depression.

The crab looks so upset about being killed. Can't blame him, though.
He has such sad, wise little eyes...
I choose to believe that he died for our sins and is now with the Giant Sky Crab.
