Things will get better once the Baby Boomers finally die and the younger generations have a real say in politics. We just have to hold on a little longer.....
I
highly doubt that.
Sure... We'll have politicians who grew up in an environment where downloading a pirated movie was commonplace. And you'd think that would perhaps lead them to vote
against copyright legislation like this... But it won't.
The big businesses are going lobby the new generation of politicians just like they do the current ones.
And we voters are fucking morons.
We vote for the guy who seems folksy. Who looks like someone you go have a drink with. Who looks like they'd make a nice neighbor. Not the one who looks like they could actually get the job done.
We've got the attention span of goldfish.
We completely forget about everything that's been said from one day to the next. They can rant and rave about how awful the oil industry is one day, turn around and say how awesome it is the next, and nobody calls them on it.
We thrive on scandal and sensationalism.
Never mind the incredible track record that so-and-so has, never mind all the scandals everyone else in politics has had, never mind that nobody was actually hurt - he took a picture of his dick,
burn him!And it isn't going to get any better, any time soon. Not until we voters decide to take our jobs seriously. Not until we start throwing politicians out of office when they don't do what they're supposed to. Not until we pass a metric crapton of laws to tone down corporate donations and lobbying and all that other BS. Not until we start actually researching who we're voting for, and what they actually stand for. Not until we can vote with our brains instead of our emotions.
