I'm with you on the rage-inducing part Nenjin.  I don't smoke myself, but I have a pretty close friend who streams and occasionally would light up a cigarette (His "Smokey-treat!") and get lambasted by zealots.  It's amazing the amount of people that seem to think smokers are being held hostage by cigarettes, there are a ton of people who actually enjoy them and choose to smoke them of their own volition.  Let the guy have his enjoyment, it's definitely not harming you halfway across the country or world.

I dunno, for me it's a fun exercise to think of all the permutations and repercussions (good and bad) of things. :P

Meh, bleeding yourself is a lot cheaper than intentionally compromising your respiration.

But it's not half as satisfying.
I've heard throwing a sofa off the roof is one of the most satisfying things someone can do.

That's probably a side-effect from studying engineering, Descan.  Same way it is for me to look at some people and wonder why they just told a complete stranger their password to their email, or leaving sticky notes with username and passwords on them on their desks.

Having a cigarette after getting laid? Better. Destroying large pieces of furniture is pretty fun though.

The problem about using price to make people smoke less is that even though it does reduce the demand, it only does that in the economic sense. Just because people can afford less cigarettes doesn't mean that they'll stop smoking. It just means they get poorer.
and in Korea, the tax hits poor people harder, because they are more likely to smoke and have less total income. Rich people don't care.

Solution: Cigarettes that cost more depending on what tax bracket you're in?

How would you enforce that? Give cashiers your income-per-year? :P

Better yet, have them double as credit chips. When you check out, you just lean forward to have your forehead scanned. Totally not reinforcing the brainwashing protocols, no sir.

Only if they're making significantly below the poverty line, in most places. Secondary solution: Pay no one in amounts that include consecutive sixes.

I don't mind dropping my pants to let people scan my genitals for food.
