"Worrying about" in this context just means treating abnormally, Tiru. It's not, like... concern for health, or anything. It's just special treatment. And when they're giving you stuff they wouldn't under normal circumstances (i.e., any day but the mostly meaningless day people call a birthday), they're... worrying about you, in that sense.

Which MZ would prefer they not. Or at least not spend money doing it, I guess.

... would you be okay with a crown of hand picked dandelions, MZ?

I think he'd prefer them to be hand-punched.
As in the dandelions were punched until the flowers rearranged themselves in a crown.

I wish there was someone in my school who cared about something besides sex and doing drugs. People form relationships simply for the sake of sex, and at the last dance nearly everyone except for my brother and I was high on some sort of pill.

Seriously, where do teenagers get a hold of this shit?

I am horribly, violently sick with a cough that won't go away.
Heedless of that, my mum charged into my bedroom in the middle of the night, told me I was being "too loud", and that I was waking up the whole house. I can only imagine what would have happened if I coughed THREE times, maybe even FOUR.
aaaaa everyone's rage is so much more valid than mine
still rage-y though

No idea!

And I was friends with the kid who did weed(supposedly) on school grounds when I was in middle school!

Probably their parents.

Its always the parents :P

not always but i guess some would at least because some parents are stupid as b12 proves

School? Plenty of deals happen either on campus* or via contacts made on campus.

Honestly, casual recreational (illegal) drug use is incredibly common, at least in the US, so in any given population you're almost certainly going to have a handful of people who are in contact with a dealer. Once you've got that, it doesn't take much else.

As for who's producing it, well, "illegal" just means "mark-up" and "market" to a lot of people. Of course there's going to be a supply when there's both a demand and an easy excuse to price gouge.

*High school or otherwise -- college is particularly obvious (I once heard someone make a call for 'shrooms in the middle of a college classroom, which was just... okay.), but lower is also well targeted. Hormones + not-fully-developed brains = easily exploitable market. The tobacco and alcohol industries both know this well, and even after targeting youth demographics became illegal they still (try to) ride that gravy train pretty hard, just less overtly.

Include understanding, knowledge, social pressures, family background. . .
A lot of things contribute to that. :-\

Oh aye, but those factors are fairly ubiquitous to all markets, not just the developing-human-being one(s). Puberty et al is fairly unique to the age group.

Tobacco advertisements are completely forbidden in Belgium, and all cigarette packs have images of blackened lungs on them. Alcohol advertisement is allowed and pretty common though :P (although they don't seem to target younger demographics that much. Seems like peer pressure is usually enough around here vOv)

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Same in Canada, the only cigarette ads you see are the "These will kill you and your family, don't" variety. I think alcohol is fairly self-marketing to younger demographics though, in the "Adults drink alcohol, I can't drink alcohol, therefore alcohol must be a cool grown up thing to drink." From my experience growing up, teenagers brand loyalty falls down to what is cheap/obtainable from the seedy stores that don't ID across the river in Quebec, and what can I steal from my parents.

For most people I knew in school that smoked, typically they had an older sibling (normally a brother) that bought it for them, while alcohol was normally bought by the parents for them.

More hard core drugs (I'm including weed, though that ain't exactly 'hardcore') were just bought from dealers. Weed was a lot more common that the others.
