A question on my Biology test:

Write the full classification of the Human species.

wthsidkwldornemdkd
... Is that even answerable?  I mean, without limiters, it's going to take a ridiculously long time to answer.  Wouldn't it?
Kingdom:    Animalia
Phylum:    Chordata
Class:    Mammalia
Order:    Primates
Family:    Hominidae
Tribe:    Hominini
Genus:    Homo
Species:    H. sapiens

Very hard question, but answerable.

Did you google it or retrieve it from memory? :o If the latter, you are a very strange man. X3
The asnwer was (in Korean) all of that plus Eukaryota and minus one of those. Funnily, the Korean wiki page has more classifications than the English one (24 vs 8) because it includes all the subclasses and superorders and stuff like that.

Another question was "Write the nucleotide structure of the restriction enzyme EcoR1. I didn't expect such a blatant memorization problem to appear, because all the practice ones gave you what you needed.
Buh...I'm strange then. Was about to name out Homo Homo Sapiens and up until Class. .__.

How'd the test go? :D

Raeg: My (what's the name of the part of the shoe where the toes are?) of my shoe got ripped up, and the inner padding is now protruding -_-
Bloody sports and the skidding and the recovery from falling over said loose end.
I'm glad I have reflexes because I saw the ground a lot faster than expected.
But still.
MY SHOE D:
I don't like you gravity. I don't even know how you work.

The toe end of the shoe is the toe. I know that rage, my squash style is not easy on footwear.

What goes up, must come down! Except where it doesn't.
There, the mysteries of gravity laid bare.

I meant the origin of gravity. Something something mass. . . ><

Massachusetts? So they're to blame for gravity. I knew it!

The force of attraction between two objects is directly proportional to the mass of the objects and indirectly proportional to the square of the distance between the objects.

f = (Gm1m2)/d2

or somesuch. I'm not sure if G is supposed to be in there.

Dont blame Massachusetts for that, they have enough issues.

Mostly that GWB came from there and global warming is fun.
And that I was born there.

I'm wondering more on the how part. :< As in, how does mass even do such a thing?
That's the something something I ended up putting up there.

Newton's formula describes how gravity works, but it doesn't explain it.

Gravity is magic.

There, now you can live your life without worrying about understanding it.

A lecturer once described it like placing a bowling ball onto a trampoline with it's indentation perturbing the movement of a marble, except the bowling ball is a mass (or any other form of energy, yes that includes gravitational energy), the marble is a smaller mass and the trampoline is space-time. Though the analogy does break down a bit when you notice that it describes gravity using gravity.

If I recall correctly, the actual attraction is due to the exchange of virtual gravitons with negative potential energy. Sort of like getting hit by a ball with negative kinetic energy in a frictionless environment. Don't quote me on that though.

Take this with a planetful of salt, for I am not a quantum physicist. Nor do I want to be one. The closest I want to touch it is at the level of parts involved that deal directly with atomics.

Mass is energy. Quite literally, for the elementary particles, which can have their mass given in electronvolts(/c2) (1 ev = 1.6e-19 joule). It also makes it fairly easy to simplify such things as antimatter annihilation - a proton (and thus, an antiproton) has a mass of 0.511 MeV/c2, so the mutual annihilation of a proton and an antiproton produces 1.022 MeV.

The how part is, I think, to do with Higgs fields and bosons and funky stuff. There are thousands of people working full time on understanding things like this. I'm not one of them.

My roommate, who said something last night about being "the sort of person who wakes up when her phone rings," has had it going off continuously since 5 AM and is quietly snoring.

Having slept so poorly, I can barely even think about doing the rest of the homework I needed to get up and finish.
