Where are you seeing the links on random words? Because I am pretty sure those popping up where you have not seen them before is sorta a sign that you have some type of virus.

That, or you're on an incredibly terrible website. Adblock might not be able to tell the difference between adwords and legitimate uses of hovertext.

Run MalwareBytes. Try uninstalling intellitxt or Text Enhance if you can find it.

Those companies are probably not. There hasn't been a list released, as far as I know, but the main company buying them off was Google, whom I don't really trust in the slightest. They always need to know more about me, even when I don't want them to.

There is, but I've not messed with it enough to know if it works properly, which I suspect it doesn't. Call me a cynic, but once people get paid off, they usually stay that way.

Well, I've not see any adds that I haven't specifically turned on. So I guess I am fine with whatever they are doing until I start to.

Stupid bloody software lock on my printer. Was printing something, and it keeps bugging me about it being low on ink. Then, when there was clearly still ink left (because there hadn't been any visual indication that there was any lack of ink whatsoever), it refused to print saying "out of ink".

Its pretty clear to me that its one of those anti-refilling things (eg. making sure that you buy from them and never refill it, otherwise it won't work), and it just pisses me off. Especially because there is still bloody ink in there.
