I'm beginning to think that games are headed down the shitter, nowadays.

Most games I buy have more bugs than a goddamned beehive, even if they have a huge budget and loads of beta testers. Leading them to either:
Not work or
Be unplayable because of so fucking many bugs.

I just wish they had the fucking common sense to FIND AND FIX THEM!

EDIT: Question, since I can't find out for certain on the internet.

Am I able to get a refund on steam if I live in the UK? And if so, how? (it was impossible to find out how. All there was was people saying 'no, you can't!' or the results of attempts to do so)
Theoretically you can send a support ticket or email to valve and get a refund, but from what I've heard it's fairly rare.

I got a refund for accidentally purchasing a game for 30 bucks. I think they basically said "Everybody only gets one", or something to that effect. Maybe not even everybody?

It's been like that since game day 1. You should have seen the first iteration of Go. People died. Hopscotch's beta test caused a full out revolution. It took several versions of rock/paper/scissors to stop maiming everyone that played it. Etc., so forth, so on. Frankly, that we've reached the point bugs mostly don't kill people is a major act of methodological progress.

... even beyond the blatant fabrication, general stability and whatnot really isn't all that different than it's been for the last couple decades. It's like. I've been there for most of it, y'know? If anything, the average has improved (so long as you discount flash games, anyway.).

I've actually been kinda sad about the decrease in bugs lately. To be fair, though, it's only certain kinds of bugs. You'll never again see a FF6, but you will see plenty of gamecrashers. Which is, I suppose, the problem here.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

FF6 is broken without exploiting glitches. Way too easy.

Oh I don't know. Playing straight through with zero grinding can make the game more challenging. Not grinding for Magic Points leaves you without a lot of flexibility late game.

Bah. Difficulty's got nothing to do with the beauty of crafty glitch exploitation. Getting General Leo in your party without a cheating device or even manhandling the cartridge is an amazing thing.

On the note of cherished series....

What the fuck have you done to my Castlevania? Playing Lords of Shadow I guess I know how we've ended up with this fucking guy as the main character in the sequel.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This game...is pretty much the antithesis of what I wanted out of a modern Castlevania game.
