Yeah, I got my new job because my interviewer's father is a mathematician and she was willing to take a gamble on someone totally untrained in her field.  I just went in, basically said "Yeah, I have no experience with the software you want me to use for this skills exercise, but these are the steps I would use to get x information out of y data set."
so wait are you doing data input or programming?

Neither.  I'm doing economic analysis and statistics.  There's some programming-style stuff involved, but it isn't low-level enough that I feel comfortable calling it coding.

Also, Facebook apparently would like me to join this group: $,,,,,,,,AlOnE BuT HApPy,,,,,,,$

Seriously, guys?

Many, many mathematicians and physicists end up in financial fields as they are numerate and know how to look at a situation and break it into solvable, managable chunks with mathematical models. Hell, a pal of mine who did the most insane PhD in the qunatum states of semiconductors is now a multimillionaire from working in the German stock exchange. Its hard not to hate him.

I'm pretty sure if I were a multi-millionaire I'd be broke the next day from handing out lump-sums of 50k to everyone I know >__________>

Facebook has SCARY directed advertising. They once targeted me with ads for wal-mart after a photo had a bag of great value sugar in the background, and a friend of mine was advertised a group "Pentecostal hair" after posting a picture of cutting her daughters hair (never mind that she is a lax catholic).

Yeah, I suppose I'm in finance, but the particular sector is green energy consulting, so... I don't really feel bad about making a little money >_> <_<

My mom decides to drag me to the emergency room on Sunday because she(or probably my stepdad) is tired of hearing my cough, which they claim goes on all night, which wouldn't be possible because I wouldn't be able to sleep if I were. I only go to shut her up, and because it would have taken armed violence to get her off my back otherwise(and I am not exaggerating).

Of course, the time from leaving home and leaving there was pretty much exactly an hour, and all they did was give me a prescription for an OTC medicine and a referral to a nose/throat specialist my mother seems to have forgotten entirely about. Of course, despite her claims of looking out for my health, she takes several hours to go an pick up the prescription, stating that there's no rush because the pharmacy doesn't close until 4:30.

And I still have this goddamn cough. Every day, I feel it getting slightly better, but it's just not going away. I've also got this irritating taste/smell of what I think is smoke that has saturated my sinus membrane.
Are you coughing up shit too?  Possibly colorful shit?
Just snot, the same color and consistency that's coming out of my nose.

a billion dollars would probably make toady work slower, not faster, as he attempts to buy himself a rig that will play dwarf fortress perfectly for the purposes of bugfixing and optimization and ends up building it from scratch

I imagine if he tried to use a billion dollars to build a computer to run DF perfectly, he'd end up building a Metal Gear.
