I get dozens of those visits a month from my local Jehova's Witnesses. As a nihilistic atheist physicist unmarried father of 2 , they probably see me as public enemy number one in need of saving. Its quite fun having a regularly scheduled debate with them. We have got to the stage where they are trying to convince me that the rules of the universe operate on Gods whim.

Politeness has been drilled into me since practically birth. It's more a reflex than actual thought now.

... wouldn't divine perfection necessitate the impossibility of God possessing whimsy? Would think omniscience would get in the way of something like that, too...

wouldn't divine perfection necessitate God's possession of whimsy?

Fixed that for you.

You too, huh?

Not that I mind very much, since being polite can be very helpful sometimes. But it also means I don't have the heart to slam the door on evangelists or salespeople until they finish their speech and I awkwardly decline.

Jehovah's witnesses are the only ones I'm aware that do that regularly (But they do it a lot). Maybe Mormons too, or particularly religious Evangelicals.

It's pretty standard to have a door immediately shut in your face upon saying something like "Hi We're the Jehovah's Witnesses, may we have a minute of your time", so don't feel bad.

I've heard knocking on the doors of the offending church and evangelizing back has worked.

At my old house, I would regularly get woken up by preachers knocking at my door on the weekends. I was never able to get up and to the door in time to tell them to leave me alone.

Doze off while studying because I can't honestly keep my head upright anymore.

Get woken up some 40 minutes later by my mother saying I should study.

So now, I wasted 40 minutes on making myself feel much worse than before, still sleepy but now I also have a horrible taste in my mouth an a headache to boot :I

Fucks sake people, it's bad enough you pester my every waking moment but now you feel the need to wake me up too >:C

... I don't suppose they'd be interested in knowing that, y'know, binge studying often isn't very helpful? You need, like. Breaks. And mixing things up, and changing topics, and occasionally just not doing anything related to it while your brain processes stuff. And then coming back after several hours (/a day or three) and going back over it, maybe some spot quizzes off and on over a period. Sitting and just studying for extended periods is... not good study habits. Brains usually don't respond too well to that, from what I recall.

Pretty sure there's a few studies out there that actually pinned down optimal studying periods, in terms of time invested. Our heads can generally only go so long before they start experiencing degraded performance. Maybe hunt 'em up, present 'em. Need to be studying smarter, not necessarily harder.
