I don't see why people get so scared of cleaning out their laptop's fans. It's honestly one of the easiest maintenance related tasks you can do, granted as long as your laptop is manufactured to be easily opened, which isn't always the case unfortunately. At the VERY MOST, you have to unscrew the heatsink. If you're laptop has a good fan though, chances are you'll literally just have to pop open the case and spray a can of compressed air into it. You have to physically try to fuck up your laptop if you're intention is to just clean the fan/insides of dust.
Not my laptop. I have to remove the entire case, keyboard, detach the god damn screen, take out all the circuit boards, and then finally, finally will I be able to access the fan. Don't look at me, I didn't design it.
Dell?  Because I've done that at least three times with my SO's Dell laptop when replacing the fans.
Toshiba Satellite. Ridiculous design. If the vent cover were removable I could get at the fan directly, but because of this oversight I must almost completely disassemble it instead.

I just got myself an ACER laptop. So far so good, and here's to hoping it will keep that way. i73632, NVIDIA Gforce 710M and 8GB of RAM.
Plus I installed this flow cytometry program which is rather nifty
The UEFI thing is quite annoying, though (tried to dedicate 200GB to ubuntu, couldn't at first, now I've discovered that I have to go through several loops to do it). And I don't know how portable it will be carry-it-to-work wise. Ideally I'd like to have it avaiable during long boring shifts.

So many laptops do that - motherboard joined to lower case, cooling sandwiched inbetween.

I reserve a special circle in hell for Toshiba Satellite laptops though. I had 4 in 12 months for work. 4. Thats 3 months each before fucked in one way or another. Thankfully it was not my own money being spent on the borked things.

Work gave me this refurbished Samsumg. Only blue screens once every other couple of weeks. :P Aside from the stupid placement of the HDMI port, I don't have many complaints. This thing even managed to play PS2 and other games at reasonable, if not spectacular, frame rates.

I have the lenovo thinkpad T61p, and let me tell you, this thing is a brick.

Spoiler: It's reinforced! (click to show/hide)

I had to replace the battery, which now gives me a very long charge, but besides that, it's great.

Sturdy looking, but I can only imagine how easily that overheats.

I've been here just 12 hours and I already hate Arizona  >:(
It is over 100 degrees outside. This place we're delivering to doesn't allow trucks to idle for whatever reason, even though that's the only way to run the AC. The only place indoors we can stay is a tiny break room that can hold three people uncomfortably and is shared with the employees of this warehouse. Oh, and unloading has been delayed nearly three hours so far since our appointment time. We actually arrived and docked early.

We simply cant see them - the consequences of thier shit are just too much to take. How in holy fuck am I going to get out of seeing them or stop them coming?

I suppose a strongly worded "What the fuck do you think you are doing?" won't help?

Just refuse. They can't force you to let them visit.

Appealing, but it hardly prevents the nuclear sized fallout coming my way.

You family have, by your own admission, been total assholes to you already. They are only exasperating this by immediately declaring that they'll visit you, your opinion not required.

If you don't put your foot down, they are going to walk all over you.

Yea, probably for the best... this would be so much simpler if it didnt have my brothers wedding all rolled up in it like some kind of shit sandwich.
