People think because I'm nice that I'll roll over when they try to take advantage of me..

I dunno. Maybe I should be meaner.

please take this advice with a specially prepared grain of salt that weighs exactly 703 grams but if you're a dick to everyone around you and still manage to get a friend then that friend deserves to see your kinder side and the rest of these people can go fuck themselves since they'd probably be a dick to you too but i have no idea how this works in both sides, needless to say i haven't been taken advantage of since elementary but might or might not regret that right now (what sort of advice would it be if i told you i regret that decision)

i finish my posts with goddamn far too often lately

I dunno. Maybe I should be meaner.

Looking "nice" and looking like a pushover are two very, VERY different and unrelated images to project. If you're projecting the second image, there's a good chance that it's because you are acting like a pushover - which has way more to do with passivity than it has to do with niceness. The people I know think of me as an incredibly nice guy, but they don't expect me to roll over for anything.

As such, being meaner won't help. If you're meaner, but still otherwise appear the same, people are still gong to think of you as a pushover - they just get the benefit of not having to deal with a twinge of guilty when they try to abuse that fact. Perhaps, though, the issue is what you mean by 'nice' - the opposite of "mean"  is "kind". Perfectly possible to act kind, caring, and compassionate without making yourself a passive target. But maybe that isn't what you mean.

If by "nice" you just mean "avoids confrontation at all costs" - then yeah, you're in trouble. Because that's passivity and cowardice and folks pick up on that. And being mean about it won't help none, it just means you'll be considered pathetic instead of nice (not really a step up!).

GG's right. You can be nice and still confrontational. I'm perhaps too "nice" but always try to cut a problem down at its root.

Yeah, I'm not any of those things. They think I'll roll over, because I'm nice, but the key part of this is that I don't.

I just have a sunny disposition and occasionally dumb people think that means I'm weak so then I have to put them in their place and I don't like doing that which further led to me wondering if I should just not be as nice as I usually am so yeah.

Not going to stop being me. :3

Pretty much this. ^^

How is it that my ancient N64 still works perfectly, but my XBOX broke after a year and my PS2 broke after three sodding weeks

I don't even know what's wrong with it I put a game or movie in and it just makes a really grinding noise and refuses to do bollocks

UUUGGGHHHHH I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S WROOOOONG

(Fun Fact, I challenged myself not to curse in this post, because if I did it would be a very boring wall of FUCK MEEEEEE AGGHHHH.)

PS2s seem to be hilariously fragile. Nintendo to this day refuses to share the secret to its Nintendium formula.

Why, uh. Why'd you buy it three times? Like. What sequences of events lead to this happening?

Well i'm a really big fan of battalion wars, and i was excited to buy it. However, my console refused to read it. I took it back, played it, same issue. By now i'm rather annoyed, because gamestop is far and we can't just fucking make trips for that shit. Almost a week later I went back, traded it in, and got another copy.

SAME. FUCKING. ISSUE.

At this point i'm fucking livid, but also just too tired of the bs, so I got my money back and gave up. To this day, i'm almost certain they gave me the same disc three times.

Anyhow, I decided to avoid the issue I ran into with my xbox and just called gamestop, they're actually being really good about this. I managed to get them to send a ps2 to the closest store, and it'll get there by monday. Everyone's happy!

The top of the steam news page for a certain game a friend has convinced me to try is a terrible bias review of the game.  Making it sound like the only microtransaction purchases are $20 at a time, when I have myself confirmed that very few things cost that much, and are hardly as required as he seems to imply, also all obtainable without spending a cent.

He complains that the game is too packed and it's impossible to do anything, when the only area even remotely packed, from watching my friend play the game is the starting zone, and even that's not as bad as he indicates.

And he even complains that the devs tried to buy the review, by giving him some ingame currency.  Which as far as I was aware is standard practice for reviewing a game with a microtransaction system.   If they actually tried to buy the review I'm pretty sure they would have given him real money that he can actually pocket, instead of fake money that can't be used outside the game.

The review comments are spaced out between blind fanboyism for the reviewer, and people pointing out the obvious errors and bias in the review.

I don't know how steam selects their news articles to stick in their game lists, but maybe they need to look over how it works when a review that I can tell is strongly bias before I even play the game is chosen to represent it.

I don't think steam does select so much as find articles related to it in certain online sites.
