I do that, but I also have a habit of talking to myself and am not very good at telegraphing the difference between "okay, talking to self right now, you don't have to pay attention" and "yeah, muttering to you."

Why do some people gotta fill every breath of a conversation with words? Silence isn't awkward by default. You know what is awkward by default? "Well, the thing is, you see, ummmmm, weeeLLLLLL? It goes a little bit like this, hold on..."
I dunno, some people probably rage at people who don't think silence is awkward . Differences and stuff o_O
Myself, I'm fine with silence, but none of my friends think so >_<

Rage: Android Chrome crashes so many times. It's like it's actually a feature.
Huh, it doesn't crash for me. My main annoyance is that you need to shut it down with task manager, because back-ing out of it doesn't work >.<

E: @Vector, I stopped talking to myself because apparently that's a really odd thing >.>
Woo, social pressure.

I usually only talk to myself during daydreams. It can be somewhat nerve-wracking to realize.

I find silence more companionable than actual talking.

I talk to myself frequently. If I'm alone, I'll even sing.
I understand the need for silence sometimes, but I'm not overly-fond of it.

I talk to myself all the time, but that doesn't mean I'm going to blow up if I'm looking at someone's face and not saying words to them.

Well, you know, left-handed people do have lower life expectancies.  Must be because they wipe and eat with the same hand, the filthy dogs :I
It's because they are often times discriminated against just because they are not right-handed and also because almost everything made today is made to be used with your right hand. My mother was left-handed and she was beaten and abused by her grandmother, a devout Catholic, and forced to have her left hand tied behind her back until she learned how to use her right hand just as well as her left hand. That's part of why she has PTSD and is also ambidextrous and not very fond of Catholics.

Also it looks like where I live if you tell an African American child to stop rummaging through your groceries and trying to take your shopping cart that you are labeled as "racist trailer trash" by both said child's mother and several of the cashiers at checkout. I don't know if I can show myself at that grocery store again because of this turn of events without feeling some degree of shame, though that may because I happen to have Tourettes Syndrome and said neurological disorder sometimes makes me say things involuntarily. It just so happened to be at a time when I was telling an African American child to stop rummaging through my groceries and trying to take my shopping cart that I started to have some pretty bad vocal tics that resulted in this feeling shame because of how I was born with said neurological disorder.

I'm sorry about that. I suggest sending the store evidence they can't ignore of your Tourettes, and ask them to pass it on to the woman and her child.

I also think it's worth noting that if you're cursing/saying inappropriate things out loud involuntarily, it's not Tourettes, it's Tourettes Special Coprolalia Edition Deluxe. I couldn't tell from MM's post, but that seems to be how it is for 'im.

Nope, I talk out loud. I even have arguments with myself (mostly over what to have for dinner).
Am I crazy in a "bad" way? D:

I consider the "only a problem if something starts talking back" heuristic as pretty comfortable. S'long as, y'know, the something isn't another actual person.

And yeah, I natter and limerick and occasionally opera at myself (O Fortuna, Soundtrack of the Loo.) when there's no one around fairly often. Keeps the vocal cords functioning and limber for when I actually have to talk to other people. Plus it's fun, and by the nonexistent gods that's enough reason in and of itself.
